Hello fellow gardeners, FYI when the temperature is above 90 degrees if your fruit aren’t set on the plants they will not produce until it cools down. Your flowers may wilt and fall off.

Gleaner’s Garden is in full bloom! 🌺

Hello gardening friends,

It’s been a tough few weeks with the heat in Sherwood, AR and most everywhere. Continue to water on a consistent basis and when the temperature drops below ninety in the coming week, your plants should set fruit. I still have plants with plenty of blooms but no fruit. Hang in there cool weather is on the way.

Sept-Nov 2023 Fall Quarterly Newsletter

Fall is here, the best time of the year to garden because of the transition into cooler weather and better stamina in the outdoors. At AFAF Inc. we do encourage succession gardening for year round food growth and consumption. Your growing zone will determine what kind of vegetables for the fall will be most apt to survive during the winter months.

This is Brassica season my favorite. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts, assorted greens, kale and spinach are favorites for the fall. Most all root plants such as carrots, kohlrabi, beets, and turnips will tolerate frost and snow coverage beautifully and deem very tasty for spring harvesting as well. Depending on your zone these plants are highly recommended. Don’t forget about assorted lettuces and winter squash. Acorn, butternut and spaghetti squashes grow beautifully in the fall and will last for months after picking in a cool dry location such as your garage.

Have a wonderful and productive fall garden and I would love your feedback and questions on anything pertaining to gardening. Come back in December for what’s coming up for spring gardening.

Happy Gardening,
Elizabeth Denise Devlin

Hello my gardening friends,

It’s been a while since I’ve posted and I can honestly say the pandemic kept us away from our yearly activities. Hopefully if everyone continues to get vaccinated we will get back to our normal and routine activities I.e. Gardening, vacationing, hugging 🤗 friends.

It’s not to late for a winter garden if you plant seedlings, lettuce broccoli, cabbage, any of the leafy green vegetables will do fine if you hurry and get them in. My big garden is going to take a winter rest and when the spring comes around I’ll be looking to serve and assist with any information on gardening and plants that you may need. You may visit my website at www.ag4all.org for the latest updates and the upcoming spring plant list.

Hi my gardening buddies,

It’s the perfect time to get your garden or flowerbeds ready for gardening. I have an over abundance of plants because my biggest fan group the schools, B&G Clubs and my church families are being kept away because of the Coronavirus 😢. I miss my kids. Any of you can inbox me, call or text me and I’ll get some plants to you. Take a sneak peak at what I have going on. Show your grand kids what you know. I’ve send more of mine since my retirement and this virus and I’m so so happy.

Hello gardening friends,
It’s been a very disheartening spring and summer so, I skipped my fall gardening season to prepare for the upcoming spring 2020. It’s time to get your garden if you haven’t done so prepared for the winter. Basic cleanup and a light layer of leaves will be a great start for the spring. I will be updating my website www.ag4all.org with a newsletter, upcoming events at the garden along with gardening tips for the spring.

Hello Gardening Friends,

I hope your winter garden is still thriving because of the mild days and abundant rain we had here in Ar
My greens are still growing and turnips are as big as softballs but, I’m already preparing for the spring. Now is the time to start cleaning and preparing your garden
for the upcoming season. Clean your plot, if you have any fallen leaves put them all in there to me tilled into soil. Decide on what you want to grow and contact me I may have what you want growing in my greenhouse.
I should have 1500 plus plants to distribute to my little farmers at the B&G Clubs, schools and to share with my friends. Don’t procrastinate get started because the summer may beat the springtime again.

Happy Gardening,
