The February meeting of the Sherrill Garden Club is Tuesday, February 3rd at 6 PM at the Sherrill Library. The guest speaker for the meeting is Michelle McNamara who will give a presentation on Growing Begonias. After her presentation there will be a business meeting and refreshments will be supplied by Linda Feduski, Sandy Musgrove and Rebecca Pease. All are invited to attend this presentation and stay for the meeting to learn more about the Sherrill Garden Club and its activities.

The Sherrill Garden Club will meet on Tuesday, March 4 at the Sherrill-Kenwood Library at 6 PM. Rosanne Loparco, Master Gardener, will discuss Environmentally Friendly Gardening. Gardening in a sustainable way involves using recycled materials, reduces the use of natural resources, and requires less maintenance. Hosts for the meeting are Shirley Kristan and Eleanor Cmaylo. Dues for the upcoming gardening year are due. All are welcome to learn more about environmentally friendly gardening and the Sherrill Garden Club!

The November meeting of the Sherrill Garden Club will be held on Tuesday, November 5th at 6 PM at the Sherrill-Kenwood The The November meeting of the Sherrill Garden Club will take place on Tuesday, November 5th at 6 PM at the Sherrill-Kenwood Library. The speaker is SGC member Rebecca Pease who will present information about "Propagating Plants." She will present examples of plants she propagated herself and then will share a video prepared by a Master Gardener on plant propagation. The hosts for the meeting are Steve and Loretta Szczygiel who will prepare refreshments and provide a table decoration. As always the meetings are open to anyone in the community to attend who have an interest in the topic and want to learn more about the Sherrill Garden Club!

The Sherrill Garden Club will host its first fall meeting on Tuesday, September 3rd at 6 PM at the Sherrill-Kenwood Library, 543 Sherrill Road, Sherrill. Master Gardener, Polly Anderosa, will give a presentation about Victorian Gardens which reflect the Victorian era love of plants, travel and innovation. These types of gardens could contain shaped beds with colorful plants, cottage style gardens, topiaries, statues and urns. She will also demonstrate how to make a tussy mussy which is a small bouquet of flowers and herbs. A business meeting will follow the presentation and refreshments will be served by hosts Fran Durant and Jo English. The meeting is open to anyone from the local area who would like to learn more about Victorian Gardens and the Sherrill Garden Club!

The Sherrill Garden Club will hold its annual Plant and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 18th from 9-noon... The perennials from our gardens sell quickly but we will also have annual flower and vegetable plants as well as baked goods. Come and check us out!

The Sherrill Garden Club will meet on March 5th to hear a presentation by Michelle McNamara on Growing Raspberries. Michelle will explain how to choose the best variety for your garden and how to care for the plants so they produce berries year after year. The meeting is held at the Sherrill-Kenwood Free Library at 6 PM. A business meeting follows the presentation. Hostesses for the meeting are Shirley Kristan and Eleanor Cmaylo. Community members are always invited to attend the presentation and alsolearn more about the Sherrill Garden Club!

The Sherrill Garden Club will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, February 6th at the Sherrill-Kenwood Library at 6 PM. The featured speaker is Bruce Mero, Master Gardener, who will speak about Growing Native Plants. A Native Plant is one that naturally occurred here prior to European settlement and the introduction of non-native plants. These species find our soil and climate conditions favorable and thus require less tending, less watering and fertilizers. Bruce will give suggestions as to plants to purchase to replace non-native plants in our gardens. The business meeting will follow. Hostesses for refreshments are Suzanne Osio, Shirley Kristan and Bernadette VanValkenburg. Anyone interested in learning more about planting native plants in our gardens and about the Sherrill Garden Club are invited to attend this meeting."

On Tuesday, November 7th the Sherrill Garden Club will meet at the Sherrill Kenwood Free library at 6 PM. The program for the meeting is for each attendee to make a fan folded leaf for fall decorating! Materials will be provided for all who attend. The business meeting will follow. The Hostesses for the meeting are Wendy Carroll and Mary Bailey who will provide refreshments and a table decoration. All are invited to attend our meeting!

The October meeting of the Sherrill Garden Club will take place on Tuesday, October 3rd at 6 PM in the Sherrill-Kenwood Free Library, 543 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill. The meeting will begin with a presentation by Ron Brough, Master Gardener, on Preparing the Garden for Winter. How you prepare your garden for winter this fall plays a huge role in how your garden will perform and produce next year. Ron will explain what we should do in the fall to ensure that our gardens produce the best flowers and vegetables the next growing season! Hostesses for the meeting are Jo English and Fran Durant who will provide refreshments and a table decoration. The business meeting will follow the presentation and will include discussion of the upcoming District 5 Meeting and Luncheon at Twin Ponds. The meeting is open to all community members who enjoy learning about gardening and the Sherrill Garden Club.

The Sherrill Garden Club will hold its June meeting at the Great Swamp Conservancy, 8375 North Main St, Canastota, NY. Members who wish to carpool should meet at the Sherrill Shopping Center parking lot to leave at 5:30 PM. Jack Silky and Gina Sciarra, Conservation Educators, will lead us on a short hike and then talk about the Year of the Coyote and why the coyote was chosen to be featured. Refreshments will be provided by Joyce Smith and Leneta Planck. Come join the Sherrill Garden Club members in learning about Eastern coyotes!”
