On December 21, 2025, Shermans Dale Boy Scout Troop 007 held an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony for Grady Reisinger, Xzavier Carr, and Draven Stout at Youngs Church.

The Eagle Scout rank is the highest achievement in the Boy Scouts of America program, signifying exceptional leadership, character, and service, requiring Scouts to earn 21+ merit badges, demonstrate Scout Spirit, hold leadership roles, and complete a significant, self-planned community service project before age 18.

Grady Reisinger installed four composite benches around the playground at the township Park on route 850 in Shermans Dale.

Xzavier Carr rebuilt and put a metal roof on the historic bell tower pavilion at Blain picnic grounds for the Blain Volunteer Fire Department.

Draven Stout Draven built eight, 14 foot picnic tables at Blain picnic grounds for the Blain Volunteer Fire Department.

Congratulations Scouts! Well done!!

Scout Motto - Be (more) Prepared than Santa

As we get closer to Christmas, a lot of people focus on the excitement of the day itself; gifts, family, lights, food, and traditions. These are all important parts for different families.
Think about what really makes Christmas special, the preparation.

Families plan meals, wrap gifts, decorate homes, and make time for the people they care about. All of that happens before any celebrating.

In Scouting, we know that the best moments don’t just happen, they come from being ready.

“Be Prepared” isn’t just packing the needed camping gear, knowing the best knot or having the right first aid skills to help someone. It’s about preparing ourselves for "Any old thing" including Christmas Chais.

This Holiday season, along with your Christmas Spirit, I challenge each of you to carry the Spirit of Be Prepared. Look for a chance to help without being asked.

Maybe it's some tape to patch torn wrapping paper, or perhaps you'll carry your knife for someone to open a box, maybe you can clear a room of dirty plates after dessert.

Show your family the lessons you've learned to Be Prepared... preferably more prepared than Santa, who somehow delivers millions of gifts and sometimes forgets the batteries, and never sticks around to help pick up the wrapping paper.

Merry Christmas Scouts

Brave - Try Something New

I want you to think about the last time you tried something new.

Maybe it was a food from a different culture, a game you didn't understand, or a sport that looked intimidating. Do you remember that tiny moment right before you said “Yes”?

Every new experience, whether it tastes weird, feels awkward, or challenges us physically, teaches us something about ourselves.
Sometimes you discover a new favorite food.
Sometimes you find a game that makes you laugh harder than you expected.
Sometimes a sport you thought wasn’t for you becomes something you look forward to every week.

Trying something new isn’t about being perfect or even liking it. It’s about being brave enough to take that first step and open the door to new skills, new friends, and new confidence.

A scout is Brave. Step outside your comfort zone. That's when adventures really begin.
Being a Scout is about discovering new adventures.

SCOUTMASTER MINUTE
Give Thanks

Next week is Thanksgiving. It is a time for friends and family. It is also a time to recharge our mental batteries before the chaos of the Christmas holidays. Most of you will all have at least some time off from your school and work.

During this time off, find things in your life to be thankful for. It could be a person who helps you. It could be your warm coat. It could be your favorite sports team winning a game. After you have found that thing (or things), spread cheer to your world by doing something nice for others. Help make dinner or pick up some trash or hold the door open for the people behind you. Give those others one more reason to be thankful.

“Some days are better than others, but every day can be the best day of your life by giving thanks.” - Richie Norton

Can your Scouts help a turkey escape Thanksgiving dinner? This engineering challenge is perfect for November pack meetings! Scouts will design and build a zip line using string, straws, paper clips, and a paper turkey. They'll test their designs, make improvements, and watch their turkey soar to safety. It's a fun way to explore the engineering design process while practicing problem-solving and creativity. Who can build the fastest escape route?
