Saturday’s the day. Moving day. Closing Here With Us was not something I ever thought would happen. I don’t know that I’ve ever done something more difficult in my life, than saying goodbye to my 150 residents.
Rescuing farm animals was my dream. These animals have been my life for the last 6 years. And I had intended for them to be my life until I was too old to lift a hay bale. I don’t have words to articulate the heartbreak that the last three months have brought. But I am so grateful to have met each and every animal that has crossed my path. And I am so grateful for all of you. Anytime the animals have needed you, you’ve all been there and I am forever grateful for that. And I am so thankful for all of our volunteers. Thank you for loving the animals like your own, for showing up day in and day out, taking care of them, making sure they’re warm and fed. Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on, my sounding board, my friends. I could not have done any of this without you and your support.
I hope our posts over the last few years have made some sort of impact in your life. Whether it was Shrimp and Basil’s love story, Lolli’s miraculous recovery or Gator’s resilience - I hope our small drop in the bucket has helped in some way. I hope we’ve helped to show you that animals are individuals with feelings and emotions, just like us. I hope we’ve shown that roosters, are deserving of love and kindness. I hope at least once, you’ve chosen compassion because of a Here With Us resident.
Thank you all for your support over the last 6 years. Thank you for loving our residents. For being a part of the Here With Us family. For everything.
I’m going to keep this page open for another week or two while I share the new homes of our residents, so you can continue following their journeys. We are forever grateful to every sanctuary and safe home who gave our residents a safe landing, and it would be so appreciated if you could show them the same support you’ve shown us.
