 Today marks one year since we lost Camille, and it’s hard to believe an entire year has passed.
As we remember her, my heart is filled with gratitude for every person who has stood beside us, supported us, donated, volunteered, and helped us continue the work that meant so much to her.
Over this past year, so many of you have helped provide food, furniture, necessities, and hope to veterans and others in our community who needed a helping hand. Every donation, every delivery, every hour volunteered, and every act of kindness has helped carry Camille’s legacy forward.
But I think this year has also made us realize something even more deeply: Camille didn’t simply help people—she brought people together. She was the heart behind so much of what we did, the one who kept things moving, and in so many ways, the glue that held us all together.
Her compassion was genuine. Her heart for people was enormous. And the difference she made in Grayson County and in the lives of those she served cannot be measured.
We miss her dogs, they were her children, her laughter, her music, her determination, her love, her giving heart, and simply having her here with us. There are some people whose absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled. Camille was one of those people.
Tomorrow, instead of only mourning what we lost, I hope we can also celebrate the beautiful life she lived, the people she helped, her music and the legacy of kindness she left behind.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us keep that legacy alive. I know Camille would be incredibly proud to see people continuing to show up for one another.
One year later, you are still loved, still missed, and never forgotten.
