Lion Jennifer Rowe, called the Sherman Noon Lions meeting to order Wednesday. She welcomed members and the guest speaker. Lion Jeff Austin offered the prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Rowe announced that services for Lion Gary Park will be August 22. Program Chair, Lion Jeff Austin introduced Chuck Dodd, General Manager of STARR Water Corporation. STARR Water is committed to providing safe, high quality water services to the community, while maintaining a standard of excellence in customer service and environmental conservation. Dodd told the group that water quality matters because it affects public health, local economies, agriculture, recreation, and the environment. When water is safe, reliable, and well protected, communities are stronger. Before water reaches a home, school, or business, it begins in a source. That source may be groundwater, a river, a lake, a reservoir, or another local water supply. From there, water is treated, tested, stored, and delivered through miles of infrastructure. After answering questions, Lion Program Chair, Jeff Austin thanked him and Lion Marty Richardson presented him with a Lions Club coffee mug. Pictured are Lion Marty Richardson, Chuck Dodd and Lion Jeff Austin. Lions Club International is the largest service organization in the world with over 1.4 million members and in over 200 countries. Since 1917, Lions have improved health and well-being, strengthened communities and supported those in need. The Sherman Noon Lions was chartered in 1928. Our motto is “We Serve”. To learn more about the Lions Club, join us as our guest for lunch at Golden Corral on Wednesdays.
