They both presented information on the current happenings at the college as well as plans for the future. Helping students be successful and helping build a quality workforce has been Grayson College’s role in the region for nearly five decades. The services, programs, and processes have contributed to an environment for student success, and they have so much to celebrate. They offer more workforce classes than other community colleges. Grayson offers six guided pathways designed to help students prepare for their future plans and not take classes that are not needed to achieve their goals. With the duel credit offerings, many high school students are able to earn college credits even before they graduate from High School. Grayson College has articulation agreements with many colleges and universities, and more are being finalized in the near future. Enrollment at the college increased by 8% last year and is expected to continue to increase. Grayson College is having a $456,500,000 bond election. The Bond Facility Planning Committee made up of 70 members, including citizens, local business owners, board members, professors, alumni, and students. The Committee dedicated several months to the long-term planning for the college including county data collection, enrollment evaluations, current and future job markets, and financial planning to put this bond package together. There will not be a tax rate increase associated with the bond. The bond referendum consists of several projects that will be constructed over 2 phases. Phase 1 will include a new Main Campus Health Sciences Building, Residence Hall, IT operations center, campus security and police facilities. The Industrial Technology Center will also be renovated. Phase 2 will include similar improvements to the South Campus in Van Alstyne. Early voting will be from April 22nd – 30th. Election Day is May 4th. For more information, go to GraysonCollegeBond.com.
