Isn't it frustrating when you're in class with your reactive dog and it feels like you're the only one struggling while everyone else is doing just fine?
That's why we're launching a new mini-series: "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly"—where LARPBO members share the challenges, setbacks, and frustrations they faced before things got better.
In this video, Michaela and Boris talk about their journey with Agnes.
From the day Agnes entered their lives as a foster through Philozoia Animal Rescue , they loved her dearly. But she also made them question their decision many (!!!) times.
Agnes would grab and bite the leash, throw tantrums on walks, guard toys from other foster dogs, and leave bruises all over her pawrents' bodies. She was not only food-aggressive toward other dogs (and sometimes still can be), but she also ate everything she found on the ground. At one point, that behavior led to an intestinal obstruction and emergency surgery.
More than once, Michaela and Boris contacted the rescue organization to say they couldn't do it anymore and would need to return Agnes.
Then came LARPBO.
After finding LARPBO early in their journey, the three of them started attending pack walks and later joined classes.
Was it an instant fix? Nope.
More than once, Michaela left class frustrated and embarrassed by Agnes's stubbornness. But they kept showing up. And little by little, things improved.
Today, Agnes attends advanced classes and has even earned her Canine Good Citizen certificate.
Did it happen overnight? Absolutely not. But it did happen. Is everything perfect today? Nope.
What has changed is that Michaela and Boris now have the tools and confidence to navigate challenging situations, advocate for Agnes when needed, and enjoy life together.
A little over a year ago, Ayia, whose home was lost in the Palisades Fire, joined the family and became Agnes's big sister. That transition wasn't easy either as Agnes is a jealous only child, but with the support, tools, and community that LARPBO provides, they successfully navigated that challenge as well.
