ISN co-hosted with our colleagues of East Valley Indivisibles for NK3 in the San Fernando Valley. CM Nithya Raman, Rabbi Jason van Leeuwen, The Rev. Daniel Tamm, Rabbi Heather Miller, and EVI lead organizer, Suju Vijiayan. Mylene Marie Morris lifted our spirits with live music and a song she wrote for the occasion. Gracious God, grant us strength to face the oppression of a regime characterized by corruption, cruelty, greed, and narcissism. Unite us in love, compassion, mercy and justice.

Mylene Morris, ISN Board Member, is acknowlwdged by LA City Councilmember Nithya Raman.

ISN was represented in an interfaith meeting with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. The mayor outlined progress made in reducing homelessness and violent crime. There was a palpable concern in the room over public safety and security, especially concerning Islamophobia and anti-semitism. The abrasive Christian Nationalist tone of the current regime adversely affects the entire country. LA is still recovering from the ICE intensive from last year. We don't suspect it's over either. Still, it is always positive to convene faith leaders in dialogue with political leaders, provided its meaningful and responsive. (photo credit - Randolph Dobbs) , 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

ISN was among the organizers for this "Multi faith Response to our Current Constitutional Crisis." We wanted to communicate the exact nature of the wrongs committed almost daily by the administration and it's supporters in Congress. We also wanted to express the theological and moral grounds for speaking out in truth and spirit against elected officials who have perverted, or ignored altogether, the Golden Rule.

Thank you, Senator Stern. ISN strives to lift up the moral responsibility to speak out and bear witness to the truth, the role of faith in upholding democracy, and ways communities can build solidarity across faith lines and respond nonviolently to injustice. More than ever, our collective witness is called for to blaze a trail forward rooted in compassion, dignity, and our shared humanity.

In solidarity with non-violent resistance to the brutal ICE actions in Minnesota and elsewhere, Faith communities are demanding Target:
- Recommit to DEI principles, beginning with a fulfillment of Target’s $2 billion pledge to the Black small business community
- Publicly call for an immediate end to the ICE “surge” into Minnesota and for a cessation of all ICE operations across the country
- Affirm Target stores as 4th amendment workplaces, publicly posting signage denying entrance to immigration agents without signed judicial warrants and training staff on how to respond if immigration agents enter illegally.
- Publicly call for Congress to stop funding ICE.
- Demand any federal officer who kills a civilian be held legally accountable.

This Christmas, we wish you all joy in your lives. This past year has demonstrated with clarity once again that there can be no peace ☮️ in the world 🌍without justice. No matter who you are, or where you are - Ukraine, Gaza, the United States - we pray for people’s willingness to work for peace by doing justice. Peace is possible because change is possible. Change is possible because compassion, truth and love still matter. That is what the celebration today of the birth of Jesus is essentially all about. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate.

Across spiritual traditions, trees are revered as symbols of life, wisdom, and interconnectedness. From the Tree of Life in the Bible to the Bodhi Tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment, trees remind us of the sacredness of our Sacred Earth and our responsibility to care for it.
Our Sacred Canopy is a tree planting program focused on increasing access to trees for those who need it most. Caring for nature is a sacred responsibility, one that benefits our collective physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
Please join us and plant a sacred canopy at your house of worship! contact [email protected] to discover more. 🌎🌳🌲
