Mission Statement
Bronc Builders is a non-profit organization established to serve two factions - youth and the community of Sheridan.
The primary focus will be workforce development of local youth. As times change, and so much is expected of youth involved in extra-curricular activities, their opportunities for employment are limited. In addition to their scholastic responsibilities, the active youth of today have camps, practices, workouts, competitions, and community service responsibilities that consume a great deal of their time on a year-around basis. Couple this with the fact that most age-appropriate jobs require a more fixed schedule than what these youth can accommodate, and job opportunities are sparse. The mission of Bronc Builders is premised on the belief that it is vital to our youth to learn a work ethic that is removed from school and sports, a work ethic built on labor that benefits others and instills in young people the pride that comes from earning their own money.
The work performed by Bronc Builders will include minor building projects, landscaping, painting, and other improvement projects of a similar nature. Bronc Builders will employ as many individuals, males and females, as needed for each contract/job. The target group will be local high school students that cannot work full time because of commitments to their extra-curricular activities. Bronc Builders will secure a contract/job and then offer the job to individuals, or when necessary, entire teams. All students and coaches will earn an hourly wage for work performed. Year-end profits, if any, will be allocated to the various teams or organizations in relation to work performed, and to other deserving, youth-oriented organizations in the community. Not only does this allow students to earn their own money, it also provides additional funds for teams and organizations to pay for student attendance at camps, tournaments, and other events without the need for as much community fund-raising.
Typical rates are $35/hr for leader/foreman, $27 for student employee, with $5/hr going back to their schools athletic/academic program.
