Sending our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Fred Goetz of Smith Ready Mix Inc.

Fred was an amazing individual who had a deep love for those around him, and for the concrete industry.

He will be greatly missed. ✨

It is with deep sadness that we have to say goodbye to our dear friend and coworker, Fred Goetz, who passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 8, 2026.

For more than thirty years, Fred was an integral part of our company. He helped guide our growth while mentoring and teaching those around him. His leadership, wisdom, and common-sense approach will be forever missed.

We ask that you keep Fred’s family in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn this tragic loss. The family plans to hold a private celebration at a later date.

🧱 Concrete For Kids At Oregon-Davis School Corporation 🧱

Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association recently spent time with 4th grade students for a hands-on Concrete For Kids event focused on learning, teamwork, and industry exploration.

Students mixed concrete onsite using cereal bowls and created their own concrete pucks while learning more about the ready mixed concrete industry and the materials that help build Indiana communities.

Founded on Veterans Day in 1951 by two veterans, Shelby Materials has grown from a local gravel operation into one of Indiana’s leading ready mixed concrete producers.
