SYAP is moving our signature fundraising event to the Spring! In the transition, we will not have our Denim and Lace event this Fall. But be on the lookout for ticket information this October for our event in Spring 2027.

We are keeping all the things we love about our event- a gathering of the Sheridan community with dinner, friends, family, and fun. And of course we will have opportunities to give to the SYAP mission, ensuring Sheridan youth have support and a helping hand when they face barriers to success. We thank you for your continued support!

We may not share a summer employment program post every day, but how can you not post this photo of all the kittens? Aside from fluffball cuddles, our students did work hard at Hamilton County Humane Society today. Great work everyone!

We are so grateful for the Sheridan Youth Assistance Summer Youth Employment Program team that came to learn about, and help us care for our newly planted trailhead flower beds this afternoon!

These teens did an awesome job with weeding and left our flower beds in tip top shape. Giving our younger generations ownership in making Sheridan a great place to live is just a bonus!

We appreciate you all so much for helping our Sheridan community look beautiful! THANK YOU!

Today was a great start to our Summer Youth Employment Program. Sheridan teens will spend 3 weeks learning about jobs at local businesses and complete projects to serve local nonprofit organizations. The first day included a morning at Custom Concrete learning and building. The afternoon was with Main Street Sheridan, learning about their new native plant beds that welcome residents and visitors to the Monon Trail head, along with some good old fashioned weeding to help the growing plants thrive.

We are thankful for our donors and the Arthur Dean Family Foundation for making this program possible. We also extend our thanks to all the businesses and organizations welcoming our students in the next three weeks!

SYAP was so grateful to receive funding from the Indiana Youth Institute this year to host a day of training and wellness for our amazing SYAP tutors yesterday! Tutoring is often a commitment beyond their full time jobs, and it was great to have a day to encourage the minds, bodies and hearts of our amazing tutors. In 2025, our tutors worked with 140 Sheridan students!

Tomorrow’s weather forecast is calling for potentially severe storms, including the possibility of tornadoes. To help keep our community safe, Sheridan First Christian Church will be open as a storm shelter for anyone who needs a safe place to go.

We are located at 107 W 3rd Street. Please enter through the three blue doors of the Education Center and proceed to the basement.
