There’s no official Pack meetup today. Instead, we’re turning today into a Pack 118 Family Fishing Challenge. Find a pond, lake, creek, or favorite fishing spot and spend a little time outside together.

SHERIDAN!

Our first Pack meeting of the year is officially in the books! 💙

We had six Scouts representing every Cub Scout rank from Lion through Arrow of Light join us for our first night together - and we spent the evening getting to know each other, practicing the Scout Oath & Law, and talking about what being a Scout is really all about.

Our September Scout Law is LOYAL, so we talked about what loyalty looks like beyond just saying the word - showing up for each other, keeping our word, including others, and being someone others can count on.

But my favorite part?

I asked each Scout what they were most excited to do in Cub Scouts this year - and for every answer, we had an adventure coming up that matched it. 🥹

Fishing. 🎣
Camping. 🏕️
Building things. 🔨
Pinewood Derby. 🏎️
Robots. 🤖
Crafting. ✂
Helping our community. 💙

We may be starting this year as a little Pack, but there is a LOT of adventure ahead of us.

Here's to new friends, new adventures, and a great year for Cub Scout Pack 118!

💙 SCOUT LAW OF THE MONTH: LOYAL

A Scout is Loyal.

Being loyal means standing by the people and things that matter to us - our family, our friends, our school, our community, and our Scout Pack.

For our Cub Scouts, loyalty can look pretty simple:

💙 Keeping a promise
🤝 Being there for a friend
🏫 Taking pride in our school and community
🐾 Supporting our fellow Scouts
⭐ Doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

This month, challenge your Scout to find one way to show loyalty at home, at school, or in the community - and ask them about it!

Little moments like these are how we help build character, confidence, and future leaders. 💙

🇺🇸 WE WILL NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸

Today, Pack 118 pauses to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, as well as the first responders, service members, and everyday citizens who showed extraordinary courage and selflessness in the face of tragedy.

As Scouts, we strive to be helpful, friendly, courteous, and kind - and September 11 reminds us just how powerful those values can be when our communities need them most.

May we continue to teach the next generation to serve others, help their neighbors, and stand together when it matters most.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. ❤️🤍💙

Did you miss Pack 118 Join Night? No problem - you haven’t missed your chance to join the adventure!

🐾 Cub Talk is scheduled for September 8, and Pack 118 will be meeting that evening at the Sheridan Elementary Cafeteria from 6:30-8:00pm! Stop by, meet us, ask questions, let the kids jump in, and see what Cub Scouts is all about.

We have a FUN year planned - outdoor adventures, hands-on activities, fishing, hiking, Pinewood Derby, community service, special guests and plenty of opportunities for our Scouts to try new things, build confidence and make some pretty great memories along the way. 🏕️🎣🥾🏎️

💙 And parents - we still need YOU, too!

Cub Scouts is a family program, and a great Pack doesn’t happen because of one or two people behind the scenes. It happens when families pitch in, share the load and bring their own talents to the table.

You do not need any Scouting experience to help. You don’t have to know how to camp, tie 47 different knots or suddenly become Bear Grylls. 😂 There are big jobs, little jobs and plenty of ways to help that don’t require a huge time commitment.

The more adults we have involved, the more experiences we can give our kids - and right now is a GREAT time to jump in and help us build the next chapter of Pack 118.

In the months leading up to December 7, 1941, the Boy Scouts of the Honolulu Council were busy training, honing their first aid and emergency communication skills.

Like Scouts today, they didn’t know when, or if, they would need to use what they had learned. They simply wanted to be prepared.

That morning, the attack on Pearl Harbor tested their skills faster and more intensely than any Scout could have imagined.
