Lagniappe Center

Lagniappe Center Lagniappe Center equips and employs low-income parents to create pet beds which are then given to animal shelters.

Sheridan, WY-based non-profit ministry that co-creates financial futures for families through employment, training, and mentorship of low-income parents alongside the local church Because poverty doesn't just affect a family financially, a key component of this program is spending a portion of the paid work week in supportive education & programming that will equip the whole person and foster the

trainees' long-term independence. To this end, volunteers and community partnerships provide professional counseling, parenting classes, financial literacy, nutrition & cooking classes, GED tutoring, spiritual formation, and commercial sewing training. Lagniappe is a pilot program and needs YOUR passionate support to be successful! Grace Anglican Church is our sponsoring organization, providing space, prayer support, and bookkeeping services until we can establish our own donor base, board, and bylaws. 💡 Lasting Change Happens One Week at a Time 💡

At Lagniappe Center, transformation rarely happens overnight.

One trainee came to us as a single mom without a high school diploma. Sixteen weeks later, she had earned her GED, developed job skills, and stepped into a full-time, benefitted job. 💙

That kind of change takes more than emergency help.
It takes time, encouragement, meaningful work, and the stability to keep moving forward.

At Lagniappe, trainees are paid while they learn so they can focus on growth without having to choose between survival and progress.

Sometimes the most powerful support isn’t flashy.
It’s steady, consistent, and quietly life-changing. 🌱

👜 Every child entering foster care deserves dignity. 💙

At Lagniappe Center, we’re honored to partner with Sheridan Foster Parent Exchange (SFPE) to provide handmade Belonging Bags for children in transition.

Each bag is:
🧵 Sewn by Lagniappe trainees during paid job training
💛 Thoughtfully filled by SFPE with comfort items and essentials
👜 Given to children during a difficult and uncertain moment

It’s a simple thing but it communicates something powerful.
You matter. Your belongings matter. Your story matters.

Two missions with one shared purpose-->dignity, care, and hope.

We’re grateful to be part of stories like hers.

💛 Sometimes Hope Looks Like a Budget Spreadsheet 💛

At Lagniappe Center, financial literacy is about more than numbers—it’s about reducing stress, building confidence, and helping families create a more stable future.

That’s why trainees work through the Financial Peace University curriculum alongside volunteers who encourage, listen, and walk with them through the process.

And the beautiful part?
You don’t need to be a financial expert to help.

Our financial literacy volunteers meet with trainees once a week for 8-9 weeks, creating space for practical learning, honest conversations, and real growth. 💙

Sometimes one consistent, encouraging presence can make all the difference.

After our luncheon, one of our donors shared this reflection:

“This is truly God’s work. I wish there were some way for people to see and understand how Christ has called us all to be stewards for one another.”

It raised a meaningful question...what does it mean to “steward” one another?

In Scripture, we’re called both to bear one another’s burdens and to carry our own load. These are not opposing ideas; they actually work together.

Perhaps stewarding another person well means both:
• Upholding them when they are weak or struggling
• And calling them upward into the unique gifts and responsibilities they carry

A well-stewarded person is both a generous helper and one who is graciously helped. That's why we can all be stewards for one another.

We see this at Lagniappe. People growing stronger not in isolation, but in community, where dignity is preserved and potential is developed.

Our Luncheon is also a great example. Trainees who are helped by volunteers who are helped by staff, who are all helped by our table captains, guests, and community to faithfully do our part. Together.

Thanks, ya'll!

💡 Invest in Lasting Change—Give $55/Month

Emergency help matters. But lasting transformation takes something more: time, stability, and the opportunity to move forward. 💛

At Lagniappe Center, your monthly support helps make that possible for local parents rebuilding their lives.

In just 16 weeks, one trainee—a single mom who had dropped out of high school—earned her GED, gained job skills, and stepped into a full-time, benefitted job.

That kind of change doesn’t happen overnight.
It happens through consistent support, meaningful work, and people who believe transformation is possible.

🌱 Your $55/month helps provide one full week of paid training for a trainee, allowing them to focus on:
✅ Building job and life skills
✅ Completing educational goals
✅ Creating stability for their family

This isn’t just short-term relief.
It’s a pathway toward long-term self-sufficiency and hope.

🌱 Help Kids Garden — and Trainees Grow! 🌱

One simple apron can serve two futures. 💛

At Lagniappe Center, trainees sew child-sized gardening aprons for Rooted in Wyoming (RiW) school gardens. RiW helps local kids connect with the soil, their food, and each other.

At the same time, parents in our program are gaining practical job skills, confidence, and pride through meaningful, paid work.

Each apron represents:
🌱 A child learning where food comes from
🧵 A trainee building skills and stability
💛 A community growing together

And it helps tell a story of hope, dignity, and hard work!

We’re grateful to be part of a community that believes in growing people, not just programs. 🌻

🐾 Cozy Pets. Meaningful Work. 🐾

There’s something special about a pet bed with a story behind it. 💛

At Lagniappe Center, trainees handcraft pet cushions using beautiful upholstery samples donated by Carroll’s Furniture—giving high-quality materials a second life instead of sending them to the landfill.

Each bed represents:
🧵 Parents building confidence and job skills through paid training
♻️ Creativity and sustainability in action
🐶 Comfort for beloved pets (and sometimes shelter animals waiting for a home)

And because every fabric sample is different, no two beds are exactly alike.

We love seeing practical things become meaningful things—and watching a community come together to create something good from what might otherwise be discarded. 🐾

🍽️ Help Us Put Real Meals on the Table 💛

At Lagniappe Center, trainees don’t just learn job skills—they build confidence in the kitchen through Cooking & Nutrition, preparing quick, healthy, and affordable meals for their families.

Then they take it a step further.

Together with Grace Anglican Church, trainees prepare freezer meals for local families—so instead of canned or processed food, people leave with something homemade, nourishing, and ready to serve.

🥘 And we’re ready to make more.

Right now, we’re looking for support to prepare bulk meatballs—a simple, versatile meal that can feed many families.

💡 You can help by:
✔ Donating ingredients
✔ Giving toward food costs

👉 Want to be part of this?
Call or text: 307.429.2493

Together, we can turn practical skills into meaningful impact—one meal at a time.
