Lagniappe Center Lagniappe Center equips and employs low-income parents to create pet beds which are then given to animal shelters.

Sheridan, WY-based non-profit ministry that co-creates financial futures for families through employment, training, and mentorship of low-income parents alongside the local church Because poverty doesn't just affect a family financially, a key component of this program is spending a portion of the paid work week in supportive education & programming that will equip the whole person and foster the

trainees' long-term independence. To this end, volunteers and community partnerships provide professional counseling, parenting classes, financial literacy, nutrition & cooking classes, GED tutoring, spiritual formation, and commercial sewing training. Lagniappe is a pilot program and needs YOUR passionate support to be successful! Grace Anglican Church is our sponsoring organization, providing space, prayer support, and bookkeeping services until we can establish our own donor base, board, and bylaws. We're looking for volunteer photographers and occasional videographers to help capture the people, moments, and milestones that make Lagniappe special. 💙

Opportunities include:
📷 Our annual fundraising luncheon
🎉 Graduation celebrations (about once each quarter)
🧵 Trainees, volunteers, and everyday moments around the center
🎥 Occasional short videos that help share our mission with the community

🏡 Thank You, Century 21!

We’re so grateful to the team at Century 21 for taking time to tour Lagniappe and learn more about what’s happening here in Sheridan.

The Sheridan real estate community has been incredibly supportive of Lagniappe, and we love having the opportunity to share more about how paid vocational training is helping local parents build skills, confidence, and stability for their families.

Ian Knutson, who hosted the tour, summed it up perfectly:

“I was telling them about Lagniappe and said, ‘You just have to go on a tour. There’s too much to tell.’”

And after seeing the program firsthand, the team was impressed by the scope of the work happening at Lagniappe.

That's exactly why we love giving tours. There is so much more to our program than can fit into a conversation—or even a Facebook post! 😄

At Lagniappe, one of the most impactful ways to support our mission isn't sewing, teaching, or fundraising.

For years, discontinued fabric samples from Carroll's Furniture have found a second life at Lagniappe, being incorporated into pet beds and Belonging Bags. Every so often, we get a call from the Magera family that another batch is available, and we happily come pick it up.

On one recent visit, I noticed a box labeled:

"Hydrophobic."

*Gasp.*

Hydrophobic fabric repels water instead of soaking it up which makes it perfect for our pet beds. But it's hard to identify without fabric tags.

I looked at Danny Magera and asked, "Are these all hydrophobic?"

He smiled and said, "Well, yes. I thought that would be helpful."

"Danny! My guy!" I yelled across the store...possibly startling his customer.

It was such a small thing. He didn't have to sort those samples. But he took a few extra minutes because he knew it would improve our work.

People often say, "The devil is in the details."

We've found that, more often than not, God is in the details. All the small, quiet ways we choose to serve create an environment of salt and light.

Thank you to Danny, the Magera family, and everyone at Carroll's Furniture for being the kind of partners who make life just a little easier... and our community a little stronger. 💙

P.S. Danny is now attending seminary as he prepares for the priesthood. Knowing the kind of thoughtful servant he is, we can't say we're surprised. We're cheering him on!

One Lagniappe trainee entered the program without a high school diploma. Sixteen weeks later, she had earned her GED, developed practical job skills, and accepted a full-time job that provided lasting stability for her family.

Her journey included:

Each bag is:

💛 Given to a child during a time of transition

One simple bag quietly does a lot of good:

Today we’re celebrating Ashley’s one-year anniversary with the school district! 🎉

Ashley joined Lagniappe ready to build a better future for herself and her daughter. During her time with us, she earned her GED, discovered more clearly the strengths she already possessed, and learned to recognize how well she performs under pressure. She also developed the professionalism and confidence to present those strengths to an employer.

For the past year, Ashley has served as a Cook’s Helper & Custodian with the school district. She can be proud of the difference she makes every day for students and teachers.

We’re so proud of you, Ashley! 💙
