We had a couple complaints from our landowner network. I’ll boil this down to a
couple items that everyone in the snowmobile community can help with to improve our sport’s image.
• Please Be Respectful – If you see a landowner out while riding, slow down, wave, say Hi and Thank You for the use of their property. Lend a hand if they need it. It
only takes a minute and can make a huge difference.
• Help Clean the Trails - If you see garbage on the trail, pick it up. If you create
garbage, keep it with you and put it in a proper disposal receptacle.
• Stay on the Trail – Keep your sled between the stakes. All of our trails are not on
our personal property. To enjoy this sport, we need our landowner network. There
is a reason the stakes are where they are, so please respect that and keep within
them.
• Ride within your limits – Safety is of utmost importance. Nobody wants a call
about an accident. Ride Right, Slow down when approaching another group and
stop at the road crossing.
These are all pretty simple things that will help the enjoyment of our sport for everyone involved.
Now on to some disturbing news. SHASTA was the victim of a recent theft. Someone has stolen our 10,000 lbs deck-over equipment trailer. The Chenango County Sheriff is notified and the Club will prosecute the individual when caught. In the meantime, please keep a look-out for it and notify the Sheriff’s office with any information you may have.
Get out and enjoy the trails. It’s the best conditions that we have had in many years. If you come across a trail issue that you can’t address yourself, send the club a note and we will address it.
