We want to introduce you to an organization that we’ve recently been blessed to connect with — CRC Paws-Cause. 🐾❤️

A friend of The Lighthouse recently found himself in a situation where he was temporarily unable to care for his dog. And if you know anything about people and their pets, you know that sometimes that animal is more than “just a dog” — they’re family, comfort, companionship, and sometimes the one constant someone has.

We were worried about what would happen to her and started reaching out to see if anyone could help.

That’s when, Brandy Sue Boston, stepped in and reached out to CRC Paws-Cause.

They stepped in, worked through the process of getting her released from the shelter, and are now making sure she is safe and cared for until she can hopefully be reunited with her person. ❤️

And that experience opened our eyes to what this organization does every single day.

CRC Paws-Cause provides temporary foster care for pets whose owners are entering recovery, treatment, housing programs, or other situations where they temporarily can’t care for their animals. Their goal is to help people get the support they need without having to lose the pet they love. They also rescue street dogs and prepare them for adoption.

After watching them step up for someone we care about, we knew we wanted to find a way to help support what they do.

The Lighthouse will now serve as a local donation drop-off location for CRC Paws-Cause. 🏠🐾

Their wishlist will be listed in the comments.

So please go follow their page, share what they’re doing, and help us spread the word. And if you’d like to donate supplies to their program, you’ll be able to drop them off with us at The Lighthouse and we’ll make sure they get where they need to go.

One of the most beautiful things about The Lighthouse has been watching connections like this happen. People from completely different walks of life crossing paths, one person knowing another person, and somehow the right people showing up at the right time.

Sometimes community isn’t about trying to do everything yourself.

Sometimes it’s simply saying, “We see the good work you’re doing. How can we help?” ❤️

One year ago, JB’s Mac-N-Cheese & Spuds set up for the very first time.

At the time, it was just a food trailer, a dream, and two people figuring things out one setup at a time. ❤️

But over that first year, JB’s showed us something we didn’t expect.

It showed us how much people are craving connection.
How powerful it is when someone feels seen.
How special it is when strangers sit down, share a meal, start a conversation, and somehow leave feeling a little more connected than they were before.

And honestly, that is part of what gave birth to The Lighthouse.

JB’s may have started with mac & cheese and potatoes 🤣, but somewhere along the way, it became a doorway into something much bigger — community.

The Lighthouse exists because we saw firsthand what can happen when people are welcomed, fed, encouraged, supported, and reminded that they have a place at the table.

So September 14th isn’t just JB’s one-year anniversary.

For us, it’s also a reminder of where this whole journey began. ❤️

We are so proud of everything JB’s has accomplished in one year, and so grateful for every single person who has helped shape both JB’s and The Lighthouse into what they are becoming.

It is honestly crazy to think about everything that has happened in just one year — all the places we’ve been, the people we’ve met, the new menu creations, the community that has supported us, and of course…alllll the mac & cheese and potatoes we’ve served. 🤣

Ok friends…Lici with Happy Hands Sensory is putting together an amazing fall event for our community that we are calling Harvest of Hope at The Lighthouse! We have rented the community center again for vendor set ups, and if we get more than can fit in there, we can set up outside too! Hopefully we will have amazing weather for this! I think some of our previous vendors have already messaged her, but I’m going to tag you as well just in case you hadn’t seen it.

Today's Small Business Spotlight is all about Happy Hands Sensory!

Happy Hands Sensory provides hands-on sensory fun for little learners, and we were so excited to host her pop-up event last month.
A former preschool teacher and mom of 3 bringing hands-on sensory fun to little learners through classes, DIY kits, and creative play for schools, camps, and events!

We believe every child deserves to explore, create, and get messy while building important developmental skills through play.
