🚨 Big Update: Stop Shepherd Landfill Appeals Court Ruling on Toxic Landfill, Case Heads to Montana Supreme Court 🚨

On September 9, 2025, Stop the Shepherd Landfill officially appealed the court’s decision that upheld the DEQ’s approval of Pacific Steel’s toxic landfill in Shepherd.
This landfill is designed to dump up to 25,000 tons of toxic waste (ASR) each year — waste that contains PFAS, or “forever chemicals,” which don’t break down and have been linked to cancer and other serious health issues.
The appeal argues that the Montana DEQ failed to properly evaluate the landfill’s environmental and health impacts, ignored PFAS risks, and skipped a full Environmental Impact Statement.
Our community deserves better. We’re standing up to protect public health, clean water, and our future — not corporate profits.
