In an emergency, time is of the essence. ⏰

Pennsylvania offers two programs that help first responders collect vital information after a traffic crash or emergency.

Placing a Yellow Dot decal in your vehicle's rear window alerts first responders to check your glove compartment for a booklet. You'll have the option to include information about medical conditions, allergies, emergency contact info and more. Learn more and request your kit at https://www.pa.gov/services/penndot/sign-up-for-the-yellow-dot-safety-program.html.

By keeping up-to-date emergency contact information in our system, you'll be giving law enforcement the ability to quickly reach someone who will speak for you if ever you cannot speak for yourself. Learn more and submit your information here: https://www.pa.gov/services/dmv/update-emergency-contact-information.html.

We couldn't do what we do without our dispatchers and appreciate them always having our backs.

The Shenandoah Borough Police Department is proud to announce that we are now participating in the Blue Envelope Program. The envelopes were provided courtesy of First Due Autism Training.

The Blue Envelope Program is a safety initiative designed to improve communication between law enforcement officers and drivers who may have a communication challenge such as autism. The program provides a clearly marked blue envelope that holds important documents like a driver’s license, registration, and insurance card. The envelope also alerts officers that the driver may require a little extra time, patience, or clear communication during a traffic stop.

When a driver presents the blue envelope, it serves as a helpful and non-verbal way to communicate that they may experience anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or difficulty with verbal interaction. This allows our officers to approach the situation with understanding and provide a calm and safe interaction for everyone involved.

Blue envelopes are available free of charge and can be picked up at the Shenandoah Borough Police Department.

We are committed to strengthening community relationships and ensuring positive interactions with all members of our community. If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact our department.

First Due Autism Training is an organization started by Zach Kirsch of the Orwigsburg Fire Department. Its mission is to provide autism awareness training to all first responders.

Aqua just advised us that the water taken from the tanker truck does NOT need to be boiled. It is drink ready. Please pass the word. For toilet flushing please get water from the portable ponds.

For the Residents of Shenandoah Borough, Lost Creek, Raven Run, Turkey Run, and William Penn effected by the water situation.....

Water is available from a tanker truck provided by Aqua for Residents to get in the church parking lot across from Borough Hall on West Washington Street in Shenandoah. Aqua recommended any water obtained be boiled if using for personal consumption.

The Shenandoah Fire Department has also setup two portable ponds in the same lot to obtain water for toilet flushing etc. This water SHOULD NOT be consumed. Thank you to the Ringtown Fire Company for filling the ponds.

Residents MUST bring their own buckets or containers to collect water to take home.

Please remember to boil the tanker truck water. Again please do NOT consume water obtained from portable ponds.

As with all emergency situations please check on and help your neighbors.

We will continue to provide information as it becomes available.
