Dear Sisters and Brothers:
I am so excited! For the first time in a while, I am bearing good news! Governor Northam in his address yesterday lifted the restrictions for inside gatherings from ten (10) to fifty (50) people; therefore, all Subordinate Chapters may resume regular stated meetings effective April 1, 2021. Of course, all other health and safety guidelines are still in place such as wearing a mask (unless there is a medical reason not to), social distancing, temperature checks, and handwashing or hand sanitizer. Protecting our membership is our number one priority.
As promised the Alternative Balloting Procedures are under review and will be mailed out to the Subordinate Chapters by April 1, 2021. I am planning a Special Called meeting of the Grand Chapter of Virginia 116th S.M.I.L.E Session for the Installation of Grand Officers. The details will be forthcoming very soon.
I have communicated with the General Manager at the Berglund Center in Roanoke. Ms. Schon confirmed that our organization is categorized by the state restrictions as a private gathering, which currently allows fifty (50) people at an inside meeting. With this information, those of you, who believe that our event could have an attendance of 500 at an inside gathering because the Berglund Center is a public entertainment venue, are WRONG.
Let me assure you that I am doing my best to keep informed on the regulations and if I have questions, I am seeking answers from the proper authorities. My priorities are the health and safety of our membership and to protect the best interests of the Grand Chapter of Virginia and our Eastern Star Ritual. I know that your priorities are the same; therefore, I respectfully ask for your help by communicating accurate information.
Please continue to pray for the health and safety of our membership, for the abundance of vaccine, and for the hope that restrictions will improve even more, so that we all may attend the Grand Chapter of Virginia 116th S.M.I.L.E Session for the Installation of Grand Officers.
May the Lord bless you with a smile on your face and love in your heart.
Sincerely & fraternally,
Robbin C. Hall
