from 9 AM-5 PM.

It is the last day to pick-up your child’s
Earned Summer Reading Rewards from either Shelton Library.

It is also the 1st Day of School for children who attend Shelton Public Schools.

An additional September 2026 Children’s Program being hosted at Plumb Memorial Library!

“A GRAND-Connection”: National Grandparent/Special Adult Relative Day,
Ages: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 years old - Ages are Firm
Day/Date: Saturday, September 12, 2026
Time: 9:30 AM-10:30 AM
Location: PLUMB

Children are encouraged to invite their
special Grandparent or special Adult Relative to the library to celebrate
“National Grandparents/Special Adult Relative Day", a day early (9/13).

Each pair will:
-play a family specific game
-participate in family genealogy activities including writing letters to each other
-enjoy a special breakfast treat

Invited Grandparents and/or Special Relatives are encouraged to bring a family keepsake or memento to share with their child.

Each pair will also interview each other to learn new things about your family's history, rituals and be encouraged to make memories.

All registered participants will be entered in a drawing to win a special Family History Gift Basket!

Registration will open on Tuesday, 8/25 at noon in Link in Comments.

New Children’s Books available to borrow with a CT library card at Plumb Memorial Library’s Children’s Department.

A great BIG THANK YOU to our favorite library friend AND Coin Collector, Mr. Robert S Wood for teaching younger coin collectors in training about US Coins yesterday, Tuesday, 8/18/26 at Plumb Memorial Library.

Mr. Wood shared:
-some history of coins specifically: penny, nickel, dime

-some interesting coin facts like the hidden Mint Markings found of coins

- and showed his personal coins magnified
with Mr. Joe’s help of a wheat penny, an Indian head penny, a Mercury silver dime and a buffalo nickel

-and encouraged our young participants to investigate some coins he provided to them with provided gloves & magnifying glasses

+plus the provided coin packets, kids got to keep!

🔎Kids also used their magnifying glasses to look & search for memorable year dates such as birthday years of their parents, siblings and themselves too through provided rolls of pennies

Each participatant also decorated their own bank too. 🏦

💕Mr. Wood we sincerely appreciate your time and talent and sharing your unique hobby of coin collecting & your coin knowledge with us too.

👍Also a thank you to Teen & Tech. Librarian, Mr. Joe who helped Mr. Wood with the technology to magnify his coins on our screen .

👏We also appreciated the attentive & supportive coin interested participants. Thank you for coming.

TODAY is the DAY!!

Our favorite library friend,
Mr. Robert S Wood: a tried and true “numismatist” will be hosting a very special COIN Program specifically geared for children 8-12 years old.

“CENT-sational Coins”
Tuesday, 8/18
1:00 PM-2:00 PM
at Plumb Memorial Library

Interested Children will:
-discover “secret Mint markings” on coins
-learn about hidden symbolism found on pocket change
-have an opportunity to handle a variety of shiny and rare coins up close🔎
-see if you can find any “Mint Errors” on coins
-learn a little history of Coins too.
-Q and A with a friendly “Coin Expert” aka
Mr. Wood

Then each registered child will receive
a Coin Bank to decorate & KEEP!
