With the recent sale of the mill assets in Mason County of Simpson Lumber Company to Sierra Pacific Industries, we are more determined than ever to accomplish our vision to preserve the old and new history of the Northwest Timber Industry. Thanks to an anonymous donor, we were able to purchase insurance for another year so that we may participate in upcoming events throughout the region. One event we have been invited back to this year is Hudson Bay Heritage Day, Sunday, August 16th, in Dupont, WA. See you there!

We are so happy to announce that we are going to build a traveling museum that we can take to events, schools, demonstrations....etc. To help with the cost of this we have received a grant from the Mason County Historic Preservation Commission! We want to thank the County Commission and the Preservation Commission for their help and sharing our vision! If anyone wants to help us out or donate to the project please give us a call at 360-490-9276.

This year we will be attending this festival and will have a booth there. This is a wonderful event that the Dupont Historical Museum puts on so if you are wondering what to do August 17th keep this in mind.

We hope to see you all at Hudson Bay Heritage Days, the third weekend in August. There are all kinds of awesome heritage themed events spread over the weekend, many of which benefit the museum. Check back for more information and flyers as they come about!

This is a picture from our Simpson collection. We don't know who these men are or where this picture was taken so if anybody recognizes them please let us know. One thing we do know, this is a great picture of tree fallers in the Olympic Peninsula.

Today and tomorrow we are manning our booth at the Antique Tractor and Engine show, tractor pull and swap meet. This event is at the Port Orchard and put on by the Olympic Peninsula Antique Tractor and Engine Association. They were very kind to us and let us set up our booth for free! Here are just a couple pictures from today including a drag saw and a hit and miss engine that is powering a portable saw mill. There are probably close to 100 tractors and just as many hit and miss engines!
