Remember this one?

Simpson Caboose 800. Do any of our followers remember this little gem? The only caption we have on this is "Built Simpson Car Shop 1970?" Though it is a similar design to the 700 located in downtown Shelton, there are several differences. Can you spot them? Visit http://www.masoncountyhistoricalsociety.org/red-caboose.html for more information on the 700 caboose, and please like and follow this museum page for more great history!

1956 marked the end of steam locomotion on the Simpson Railroad. The caption on the reverse of the photo reads "Simpson #9 at Shelton prior to coupling onto 3 borrowed N.P. coaches for 'Last Steam Trip' to camp Grisdale August 18, 1956. Lawrence Larson, Conductor at time photo was taken, is now Supt. of Simpson's Railroad Operation." Photo by Harold Borovec, PRLM Collection.

Steam is a possibility in Shelton, but not without your help. Please visit http://peninsularrailway.org/index.php/donate to find out how you can donate to our efforts to preserve our history, and attract others to share in our culture.
