To identify, address and improve mental health issues that face our community.”

The Washburn County Mental Health Task Force (WCMHTF) was created in 2018 as a result of a need that was identified by the Children’s Coordinated Service Team (CCST). The CCST has been in existence for nearly 40 years and is the clearinghouse for all County children and family providers. This team gathers quarterly to share information about services provided, trends noted, and to discuss issues to be addressed. It is through these meetings that the CCST recognized that surrounding counties had recently experienced youth su***des and that our own mental health crisis response team in Washburn County had been experiencing an increase in calls from youth with mental health concerns. The CCST acknowledged that in order to prevent a su***de in our county proactively, intentional actions needed to occur. In doing so youth with unmet needs had to be identified and connected with appropriate services. The WCMHTF was formed with the following mission: “To identify, address and improve mental health issues that face our community.” The Task Force brings together individuals from organizations, schools, health and human services, media, law enforcement, counseling agencies, healthcare, and religious communities throughout the county to be proactive in a strategic and effective manner. The Task Force members have been collaborating at monthly meetings since its inception to develop programming and resources.
