As the Honor Flight Network proudly marks 20 years of service, we're taking a moment to highlight the incredible work of one of our shining hubs: Midwest Honor Flight!

Since being founded in 2017, this dedicated organization has completed 28 total trips to our nation's capital. Their commitment to honoring those who served is evident in the 2,416 total veterans they have flown to see their memorials, with an incredible 510 veterans flown in 2024 alone!

We invite everyone to join us in expressing profound gratitude to Midwest Honor Flight. Their tireless dedication, heartfelt passion, and the immense impact they have on the lives of our veterans are truly commendable.

Please show your support for their vital and heartwarming mission by liking and following their Facebook and Instagram page!

It was a great day today. We were able to present a check for $38,000 to Midwest Honor Flight from the funds raised as part of the 2nd Annual Night For the Honor Flight. It has been a great to be able to help such a great organization and knowing that the funds will be used to send 38 veterans on a flight in 2026. Thank you again to everyone that helped make this happen. And save the date for next year's event -- November 14, 2026.

WOW - What a Night!! I cannot say thank you enough to everyone that came out to support our event for Midwest Honor Flight last night. This does not happen without a great support system. I think we fed about 325 people and fun was had by everyone. If I miss anyone below in my thank you list, I want to apologize in advance.

First I have to thank our volunteers for the evening. Sheldon Fire Co. did another amazing job in getting everyone served and help bus tables, the O’brien County Cattleman cooked up some amazing steaks for us, thank you to 1015 Steak Company for providing the sides, Sanborn Foods for the steaks, Blossom & Bride Boutique for the center pieces, Sunkist Bakery for the rolls, all of the Auxiliary members that made and donated desserts, and the Crossroads Pavilion Event Center staff that made the evening go smoothly and kept the libations flowing. And I cannot forget Robert and Dan from Midwest Dueling Pianos for putting on a great evening of music and entertainment.

A special thank you to Sue Reagan and Shanelle Matus for your time and input on pulling things together. Thank you to all of the many sponsors that contributed to the event and to all of those that donated items for the silent auction and to those that participated and purchased them.

Thank you to Midwest Honor Flight for allowing us to be part of such an amazing organization. And most importantly, thank you to all of our Veterans for doing what you have done for our country.

We do not have a final tally on everything yet, but through all of your generosity, we will end up north of $35,000 going to Midwest Honor Flight.

Thank you again for your support and I look forward to reading any comments and seeing any pictures that any of you want to share.

Sheldon High School students from Mrs. Amanda De Groot’s Entrepreneurship class and Mrs. Cindy Prewitt’s CAPS class participated in the Innovate Competition hosted by Northwestern College in Orange City this fall!

Students were grouped into mixed teams with peers from other schools and collaborated with business partners and NWC students to solve a real-world challenge. This year’s business partner, American State Bank, tasked teams with creating banking solutions specifically designed for teens. The top teams walked away with cash prizes for their innovative ideas!
