I am posting today with a joyful heart and a reminder not to despise small beginnings. When my kids were young, my husband faced some medical challenges and lost his job. There was a season of two years where I drove him back-and-forth to the doctor did odd jobs (cleaning) and people who show compassion on us and helped us. There we many others in that season who made sure our kids didn’t do without. I remember a trip to Dairy Queen where we counted pennies to get ice cream. I remember a Christmas where the compassion of others was so extravagant that I was embarrassed to take the trash to the dump the next day because it was a truckload full of gift, wrap, boxes, etc. An abundance that screamed from the heart of the father that he was taking care of my kids. When I did get a job that would cover our budget first thing we did was get Christmas for some other kids. It was such a joyful time to do for others. It was nice not to have to focus on our own needs for just a moment to make sure someone else had a great Christmas. We remember those two Christmas’ as our best Christmas ever! There was always people in our lives who made sure our kids did not do without from that season so many years ago we are who we are today because of it. Out of the storm came strength. It is with great honor and privilege that One Accord Prayer gets to provide shoes to some kids who wouldn’t have had new school shoes otherwise. I want to thank everyone who donated or who stood out in the hot sun and sold T-shirts with us. Praise God hallelujah all the glory goes to him and we’re just gonna keep growing this program to make it bigger.
