🐱 Like every other cat advocacy organization, we are receiving an overwhelming volume of calls from individuals seeking our assistance in rescuing or finding homes for kittens they have discovered or for kittens born to community cats they feed. 😔 Regrettably, we lack the necessary foster homes and resources to accommodate these kittens and facilitate their adoption. 😢 Additionally, city/county shelters in the region are operating at full capacity and cannot accommodate more cats. 🏢
🐾 During kitten season, the number of kittens in need of homes surpasses the available resources. This situation emphasizes the significance of spaying and neutering cats before they reproduce. 🚫🐈 It is crucial for everyone, including those with pet cats and those who come across stray cats, to have them spayed or neutered. 🌡️ By addressing this underlying issue, we can help prevent the creation of future colonies even if the kittens are rehomed without entering shelters. 🏠 Remember, Animal Outreach of Shelby County offers FREE spay/neuter of outside cats for exactly this reason. 💙
🐾 If you encounter kittens outdoors, refer to the decision tree attached 🌳 to determine their age and find the best course of action to ensure they do not contribute to the growth of feral cat populations. 🚫🐈 We acknowledge that we cannot shoulder this responsibility alone, and it is essential for the community to do their part! 🙏

Congratulations to Joey Hoyt for winning the truly amazing custom guitar at the Midnight Blue - The Lou Gramm & Foreigner Tribute concert tonight at The Strand Theatre. Concertgoers raised an impressive $410, enough to fix 6 community cats at the next spay day at the end of the month. Thank you Midnight Blue founder Paul for all you did tonight to help us help community cats 🙂.
