Last week our volunteer EMMC (Evangelistic Medical Mission Caravan) team carried out a weeklong caravan to the state of Oaxaca.
Confession time: my (Julie's) intention was to translate their Facebook posts (from the Pescadores de Hombres page) as they were published to share with all of you what the Lord was doing in and through the team! However, the reality is that life at Refuge Ranch changes quite a bit when staff and several family members are on caravan. While there are fewer of us at the Ranch, there is also more work for the fewer of us that stay at home. Add to that mix the fact that life, well, life is just life (and we did A LOT of living last week at Refuge Ranch)....I didn't get the Spanish Facebook posts shared.
But YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW WHAT THE LORD DID LAST WEEK! So, Lord willing, I will be sharing those posts throughout this week...don't miss them....and praise the Lord with us for all that He has done!
CARAVAN 243: THUS FAR THE LORD HAS HELPED US
Today we begin the 243rd medical caravan of the Fishers of Men story….a story written throughout the years with innumerable testimonies of God’s faithfulness; of how He has taken care of each and every detail, opened the road before us and has always provided what His children have needed.
After approximately 11 hours of travelling, we arrived today to Esperanza Arroyo la Gloria, Oaxaca, with grateful hearts and full of expectation to discover what God will do in us, with us and through us during these days.
Even during our travels today we witnessed His care. We were able to enjoy some delicious sandwiches and tamales that were part of God’s provision, which is never lacking in our lives. We even had an unexpected encounter: a snake decided to interrupt our lunch plans! We had just found a great shady spot for lunch….but the snake had beat us there! The adventure had certainly begun!
Our team is made up of 33 volunteers with different professions, talents and responsibilities, but with the same desire: to be useful instruments in God’s hands to serve, love and share His hope!
We have high expectations….as well as a forecast of high temperatures in Oaxaca!
The phone signal will be another one of the challenges during this week, but we know that nothing can stop what God has prepared!
We ask that you pray for us…for each volunteer, for our health and protection, for each person that we will attend to and, above all, that our hearts remain sensitive to God’s voice and that we may reflect His love in each and every attention given, every medicine, every conversation, every hug and every moment.
Today we can look back and say:
“Thus far the Lord has helped us.” 1 Samuel 7:12
And if He has accompanied us up to now, we can fully trust that He will continue to do so each and every mile on each and every trip and in each and every life that He allows us to reach.
Caravan #243: Let’s go!
May all that is done these days be through Him, for Him and to His glory!
