Thanks for stopping by to read this post. We have a meeting THIS THURSDAY at Shelby Christian Church at 6 PM. This month we will be starting a new badge: World Heritage. We are blessed to have a diverse group of families that participate in our troop. The countries that we will be focusing on will be Scotland, the Philippines and Mexico! Come by and join us!!

HUGE shoutout to Julie Sanderson’s daughter, Norriah, who is a member of our American Heritage Girls Troop KY2917.

This sweet girl has been growing out her hair from birth. When it was time for a haircut, Norriah donated 16”+ to http://www.wigsforkids.org !!! Thank Julie & Norriah for living the American Heritage Girls Mission Statement of service. ❤️✝️🇺🇸

We are having a wonderful evening earning The Free to Honor Patch!

The topics included:
1. Heritage
2. Unity
3. Honor
4. Patriotism
5. Respect

It was awesome going over these topics with Biblical verses to support spiritual, familial and National definitions. And as always, circling back to the AHG’s mission statement: “Building women of INTEGRITY through service to God, family, community, and country.”

We even had two new friends join us for the evening to test what we are all about!

Fun Fact: Why was AHG created? There are other scouting organizations out there. Why "reinvent the wheel"?

American Heritage Girls was founded in 1995 in West Chester, Ohio by a group of parents wanting a wholesome scouting program for their daughters. These parents were disillusioned with the increasing secular focus of existing scouting organizations for girls. They wanted a Judeo-Christian focused organization for their daughters and believed that other parents were looking for the same for their daughters. This became the catalyst for the birth of the organization we have come to know as the American Heritage Girls. American Heritage Girls began its first year of programming in the fall of 1995 with about 10 troops and roughly 100 members. Most of the troops met in the West Chester area and worked on badges written by the founding parents. Organizational events were started that year which assisted the organization in tying city-wide troops together. American Heritage Girls is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. The organization offers merit badge programs, service project, girl leadership opportunities and outdoor experiences to its members. The program will continue to do so long into the 21st century. The founders of the American Heritage Girls and the volunteers of today give all credit for the success of AHG to God for His constant hand upon the organization and His unceasing blessings.

AHG's next Program Initiative, Free to Honor, kicks off next week, October 11-15.

Girl Members will delve into topics related to honor--respect, heritage, unity, patriotism--by participating in hands-on activities and exploring what the Bible has to say about each topic.

AHG's prayer is that girls will walk away from the virtual event with a deeper understanding of what it means to be honoring as a Christ-follower and as an American citizen.

Yay! There is a MEETING THIS THURSDAY!

Here is what we have planned!

Ms. Jessi (Tenderheart Unit Leader) will work on Joining Award with new Tenderhearts and Explorers. The Joining Award is the center badge that starts the “flower” on a vest or sash. Our “new to AHG” girls will learn the AHG Oath & Creed as well as the AHG sign & Flag Etiquette.

Ms. Angie (Explorer Unit Leader) will work on the Frieda B patch with returning Tenderhearts and Explorers, plus Pathfinders.

P**as will split up, half assisting Jessi and half assisting Angie. The P**a Unit are our eldest girls. They will be practicing their leadership skills as they help the younger hands in the troop.
