This past Sunday, Misty and I worshipped with the good folks at Covington Baptist Church. Their interim pastor was out of town, so we were pleased Bro. Darryl Wilson preach God's Word. Bro. Darryl read from John 10:11-16 and preached about how Jesus is not only the Good Shepherd, but He is also the owner of the flock and we have been given a stewardship to care for the sheep that belong to Him. Bro. Darryl also reminded us that Jesus claims sheep that have not yet been brought into the fold and we are to do our part in helping to bring them home. Thank you, Bro. Darryl for the great message and for encouraging God's church through the preaching of the Word.

Please join me in praying for Interim Pastor Robert Davis, Covington BC, and their search for a new pastor. May God bless them and guide them according to the wonderful plan He has for this congregation.

This past Sunday, we attended a joint community worship service held at DeHaven Baptist Church. Joining together to worship the Lord on this beautiful morning were the following churches: DeHaven Baptist Church (Pastor Mark Somers), LaGrange Christian Church (Pastor George Irvine), Covenant Church in LaGrange (Pastor William Moore), and Centennial Missionary Baptist Church of Shelbyville (Pastor Norris Beckley). Wonderful music, wonderful congregational singing, a great message from Pastor Mark, and a sweet time of fellowship among brothers and sisters in Christ.

On Saturday, October 3, our Network WMU Team (Susan Bryant, Denise Gardner, Bambi Wright, Gabby Salazar, Chrissy Downing, Dana Jenkins, and Misty Auten) hosted a brunch for our pastors' wives. Pastor's wives hold a unique and challenging role in our congregations, and this was just a small way to show our appreciation for them. The food was terrific and Misty did a great job with the devotional. The group also spent time praying for our SBC missionaries who had birthdays that day.

During the afternoon of Sunday, September 27, the churches of the North Central Baptist Network came together at LaGrange Baptist Church for our Semi-Annual Fall Meeting. We began with breakouts at 2:00 and 3:00 pm. Here is the list of featured breakouts: SBC 2026 Annual Meeting Recap, led by Philip Meade (pastor at Graefenburg BC); Bi-vocational Ministry to the Glory of God, led by Peter Phillips (pastor at Smithfield BC); Mission Dignity, led by Barry Jeffries (church consultant with KBC); Out of the Office: Mobilizing our People Beyond their 9-5, led by Daniel Bright (missions and admin team leader at Christ Community Church); and Encouragement for Pastor's Wives, led by Misty Auten (my better half!). At 4:00 pm, we held our business session where we adopted the 2027 budget, elected a new moderator elect (Rick Downing), saw our former moderator elect (Rick Grice) step up to be the new moderator, and heard reports from the WMU (Susan Bryant); the Administrative Team (Rick Durham); the Great Commission Team (Christ Platt); the Church Health and Leadership Team (Dan Reid); and our NMS (Jon Auten). At roughly 4:50, we moved to the sanctuary at Lagrange BG where Rodrigo Dias de Souza (LaGrange BC Worship Leader) led us to the throne of God in praise, and Pastor Dan Reid of FBC Shelbyville brought an encouraging and challenging message from Romans 8.

My thanks to Pastor Cam Potts and his congregation at LaGrange BC for hosting us. Many thanks as well to Amanda Bruner (NCBN Ministry Assistant) and the many others who helped make the afternoon a wonderful success!

I need to get caught up on a few posts, so here's the first of several.

On Sunday, September 27, Misty and I travelled to Providence Baptist Church to worship with this vibrant congregation as they celebrated their 200th Anniversary as a church! There was wonderful music, scripture reading, and testimonies led y members from multiple generations in the church. Former pastor, Michael Huff, shared memories from his time serving the church. And Shane Nickell, a pastor from the early 80's preached a strong evangelistic message. Current pastor, Travis Hearne, had prepared a church history that highlighted events going all the way back to 1826! It was a wonderful morning! The church had lunch on the grounds and continued worship and testimonies in the afternoon. We couldn't stay for the afternoon portion due to our Network Fall Meeting, but I know the folks of Providence had a full day of joy in the Lord.

May God bless, Providence BC and Pastor Travis Hearne and may the Lord continue work in their midst for many more years!

This past Sunday, September 20, Misty and I worshiped with Bethlehem Missionary BC in Henry County where I had the honor of sharing encouragement and truth with them from God's Word. This sweet congregation is currently without a pastor. Please pray for God's provision in this matter as they wait on the Lord with patience and faith.

This past Sunday, Misty and I were happy to join Bedford Baptist Church for their morning worship service. As you can see, this service happened outside. The Trimble County Apple Festival was held this weekend and, for the third year in a row, Pastor Mark and his congregation held their Sunday morning service in the city square. Bro. Mark preached from Isaiah 49:14-16 and spoke about how God has not forgotten us. As he closed with a strong reminder that the cross is proof that God has not forgotten us, he called all within hearing to put their faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you Pastor Mark and Bedford BC for being a bright light for Christ in your community!

This past Sunday, Misty and I worshipped with the good folks at Westport Baptist Church. Bro. DeWayne Sowell preached from Romans 12:3-8 and talked about humble service in the body of Christ. Pastor DeWayne did a great job as he highlighted the need for believers to consider themselves rightly, recognize they are part of the body of Christ, and to use spiritual gifts they receive from God to the benefit of Christ body and for His glory. I am thankful for this church and how they care about their community as well as about missions further abroad. I am praying for them and for their mission team that is serving the Lord in Honduras this week. Won't you join me?
