This past Sunday, Misty and I were pleased to worship with our home church, Highland BC. I had the privilege of sharing about the Honduras mission trip I went on back in July and got to tell about how God worked to open the way for me to go on that trip and what He did while the team was there.

We also got to hear Family Pastor Zach Wood (pictured) preach from Psalm 51 where we find David's confession of sin. Bro. Zach noted our confession (like David's) to God should begin with acknowledging the sin and seeking restoration, This is followed by God changing our hearts and lives so that we might live restored lives before Him.

Thank you Bro. Zach for the reminder of God's grace at work in us through repentance and confession.

Thanks for the opportunity and privilege of preaching God's Word again at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

Catch-up post number 3. This past Sunday, August 9, I had the privilege of preaching God's Word at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Their pastor just recently resign from the church and I have the honor of sharing with them this past Sunday, and will do so again next Sunday, as they secure an interim pastor and begin the process of calling a new pastor. Please join me in praying for Mt. Vernon BC throughout this journey. May God bless them with His wisdom and guidance as they seek the man that God is calling to come alongside them in service and Gospel ministry.

Catch-up post number 2. On Sunday, August 2, Misty and I gathered with Waddy Baptist Church for worship and a special celebration commemorating Pastor Tex Selph's 20 years of ministry at the church. It was a wonderful time with special music, a song from the children, interview's with the children as they were ask some fun questions about Bro. Tex, testimonies from Waddy BC members and a couple of testimonies from Salem BC where Tex had served previously, a encouraging message from Bro. Steve Gouge (former AMS of Shelby Assoc.), and a delicious meal over at the Ruritan Club building. In recognition of their faithful service, the church gifted Tex and Wanda with an all expense paid trip. One of the things I really enjoyed hearing about in the testimonies and in conversations with Bro. Tex was his love for missions. This is evident not only in Tex and Wanda's 15 years of service with the IMB, but also in how they have led their church to give to missions and to send folks out on mission with the Gospel of Jesus.

It was a wonderful morning with well-deserved recognition of Tex and Wanda's faithfulness to God and His church at Waddy Baptist!

Well, I am now three weeks behind on posting about where I have been as I worship with our churches each week. I will try and get caught up.

On Sunday, July 26, Misty and I worshipped with our friends at Milton Baptist Church. As a part of that visit, we also got to meet Milton's new pastor, Bro. Chris Dye, and his wife, Kelsey. Milton BC voted just a couple of weeks before this to call Bro. Chris to be their pastor. We enjoyed the worship and Pastor Chris' message from Philippians 1:18-30. One thing he said that stood out to me was this, "Live like Christ is our greatest treasure." What a powerful and compelling thought! The church was also decorated for the week of VBS (July 26-29) which utilized the theme of Christmas in July. And the Christmas-themed decorations looked wonderful and festive as the church was ready for the children!

Welcome Bro. Chris, Kelsey, and your family as you begin this journey of serving the Lord alongside Milton BC. We are praying for you!

July 11-18, I was blessed to be in Tela, Honduras as a part of the Koinonia Honduras mission team (12 people) where we worked alongside Pastor Franklin Requeno and the folks of Iglesia Bautista Antioquia. Part of our team did children's ministry, home visits, nursing home visits, and a women's conference at the church. I served with the other part of our team that worked to finish the walls and roof for Pastor Franklin's new office at the church. On Sunday, July 12, I had the honor of preaching at Iglesia Bautista Antioquia and was blessed to see God move in people's hearts as one person received Christ and three others came forward to rededicate themselves to the Lord. I returned home on July 18, but the 11 other team members were joined by another 8 or 9 people. This group traveled to LaCampa, Honduras where they will be working at Rueben's House with Greg and Jean Hines. This team will do medical clinics in the surrounding area, home visits, and construction work. I am praying that God will bless their second week of mission work and continue to use them for the sake of His name and glory. Won't you pray for them with me?
