Shelbyville Rotary was honored to hear the personal story of Najia Sherzad Hoshmand, and her families journey to the United States, after the fall of Kabul in 2021. Please help Najia in her non-profit mission to support other Afghan refugees that are working towards self-sufficiency here in the United States.

Shelbyville Rotary Club presented a $10,000 check to Shelby County Youth Assistance Program Director Melissa O'Connor. Proceeds were from a recent golf outing. Thank you to all of the outing volunteers and supporters of such a great organization.

Rotary Club Shelbyville listened to a wonderful presentation by Abby O'Connor regarding Nurse Family Partnership (NFP). NFP is an evidence based program that provides support to mothers from time of conception until the child is two. NFP began serving in Marion County in 2011 and has grown rapidly since its inception. Abby started with NFP at the ground-level in 2011 as an RN and now manages her team of nurses serving Shelby county and other portions of South/Central Indiana. NFP is in rapid expansion mode and our gathering this week served as an ideal opportunity for her to present her program and educate us on the services they provide. https://www.nursefamilypartnership.org/

Our annual Hank Agler Steak Dinner was a success! We had the opportunity to host our Rotary District Governer Mekey McAllen. Thank you to Tim Barrick for the program event and to Ray and Cindy Wetnight for hosting. We had a great evening socializing and enjoying a catered steak dinner from our very own member Bill Aughe of The Chicken inn!
