What is a "community partner"?
Edwards Moving and Rigging saw a great opportunity to be a community partner and possibly fill a few welding job openings with Whitney M. Young Jr. Job Corps Center students. Their fabrication shop has given Job Corps students real-time experience to develop their welding skills. Long states, “The training provided by Job Corps has given their students a solid foundation to enter the workforce.” The goal is for this partnership to continue to grow, assisting Edwards Moving and Rigging in filling various positions, and providing students with opportunities.

One student benefitting from this partnership is welding student, Narkee Jones. Jones has completed the Whitney M. Young Jr. Job Corps Center Welding program with the following certifications: 3G Bend Test, 2G Bend Test, OSHA 10, Ladder Glidesafe 101, Ramset, and HPIP. Jones has shown a high level of thoughtfulness throughout his Job Corps experience and has taken what he’s learned from Job Corps and applied it to the workforce.
