The 60th Anniversary of the Baldwin Commandery #2 Drill Team Fair Pizza Booth at the Shelby County Fair - Shelbyville, Indiana has ended.
We had a great turn out and a wonderful group of members who helped out. This year we started on the Saturday before the Fair which they held the Fair Parade and a Flat Track Motor Cycle race around the track with Sir Knight Scott Pike our Eminent Commander participating and he survived! Sunday was Fair Set Up and a lot of 4-H events.
We continued with serving lunch each day from Saturday to Saturday of the Fair at 11am which seen a great support of the Community and also visitors of the Fair with several Take and Bakes being picked up. Serving Lunch has proved to be a Win-Win for us and the Fair.
Then came The Fair starting on Monday June 15th though the 20th. Every day was great with exception of inclement weather on Wednesday shutting down the Fair at 8pm but it had rained off and on all day which also canceled the event in the grandstands for both Wednesday and Thursday. BUT... that didn't dampen our spirits. FAIR PIZZA MUST GO ON and it did. We picked back up and ran with it! Got the rest of the weekend completed and we got everything cleaned up and buttoned down for the year Saturday night.
It is always great to see local vendors also Dayton's Family Affair, Thornburg's Super Twist (Pineapple Whip), Shelby County Beef Association with their wonderful ribeyes! We also had our neighbors Hancock County's own Wild West Soda which is a Drill Team Favorite (they will be at Hancock Co too, get you a Growler...it is The BEST! We also met a Brother Mason Trent Wilkes who owns Wilkes Concession trailers and became friends, he is also from Central Indiana.
We also added another topping this year in Black Olives which brings it to 5 new toppings in the last 2 years. We could feel our Past Commanders and Sir Knights twitching just knowing that we had added New Toppings... 😳😳😳.
Take and Bakes continue to be a Favorite tradition and a request to do it more often too!
We got a Shout Out on the Hammer and Nigel show, Nigel and Heath had pizza prior to their show and gave us out a great shout out!
Also Johnny and the Crew at Giant FM are a HUGE supporters, always supporting and promoting us. Back in the day we couldn't wait to hear Closing Time!
SK Randy Darling, PGC and our Drill Team Captain found one of the 50 painted rocks and we were able be part of the Family Arts Rock Hunt with #31 now listed as the Baldwin Commandery #2 Drill Team Rock!
We had our First Ever Emergency Call, just a little Hot Butter and it didn't keep a dedicated Sir Knight down! He said On with the show! Sir Knight Richard is now Sir Knight Butter Cakes or Butter Fingers and who was at your service! Thank you Moral Township Fire Dept. which was dispatched thanks to Jr. and did a great job! Thank you to our First Responders from all of the County and City Departments for supporting us and all you do for Shelbyville and Shelby County!
We have continued our Fair Board Buffet to support the Fair Board and the Fair Queen's who in turns support us when they allow us to use the Family Arts Building for our Drill Team to practice in. This is such a wonderful building and we can't thank you enough. We will be planning our National Drill Competition here in the upcoming months for the Grand Encampment Of Knights Templars Triennial in Anaheim, California in August 2027.

Thank you to ALL who helped out and our Ladies too! We made this year a success! Without YOU this could never happen, we all do our part to make the wheel turn! We work as ONE and we make it happen, it might get a little hectic at times but we get it done.
Till next year and the 61st Edition of Shelby County Fair Pizza by Baldwin Commandery #2 Drill Team in 2027 we might come up with something new who knows. We have some plans and can't wait till then!
