Celebrate National School Lunch Week with OVEF!

Did you know OVEC Head Start provides nutritious lunches and snacks every day to more than 800 children? This week, October 12–16th we’re raising funds to help offset the cost of school lunches and support our littlest learners. Here are 3 ways you can help this 👇

1. Donate to OVEF! A $25 donation provides lunch for one Head Start classroom.

2. Shop our Amazon Favorites! Looking for lunchbox essentials for school or work? When you purchase a recommended item through our Amazon links, a percentage of your purchase will be donated to OVEF at no additional cost to you!

3. Join BJ’s Wholesale Club (similar to Costco or Sam's Club). BJ’s is coming to Frankfort, and you can take advantage of special membership pricing while helping support our Head Start kiddos!
**New Club Card:** Just $15 (regularly $60) — BJ’s donates $5 to OVEF!
**New Club+ Card:** Just $50 (regularly $120) — BJ’s donates $15 to OVEF!
(Both memberships also include additional gas savings for the first six months!)

Visit our Linktree: https://linktr.ee/OVEF to find the BJ’s flyer and membership enrollment information, Amazon Links, and the OVEF Giving Page!

Every lunch matters, and every contribution makes a difference. Thank you for helping us make sure our Head Start kiddos have the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and thrive! 🍎💚

Last week, Cedar Grove OVEC Head Start welcomed students and their families into the classroom for a special School Readiness Night! 💛

Families enjoyed an evening full of activities, including creating a fingerprint family tree, completing a classroom scavenger hunt, sharing a meal together, and even a visit from the Book Bus, where kiddos got to pick out a free book to take home!

We love nights like these because school readiness is about more than what happens in the classroom. It’s about bringing together parents, teachers, and the special people in our Head Start kiddos’ lives to learn, connect, and support them as they grow.

A huge thank you to Owen Electric Cooperative, Inc. for spending the day with our iLEAD Academy students!

The freshman engineering students got a hands-on look at GIS (Geographic Information Systems), technology that helps map and manage things like power lines, equipment, and other infrastructure. They also learned how an electric distribution system works and the importance of staying safe around electrical equipment.

These real-world demonstrations help our students connect what they’re learning in the classroom to how engineering and technology are used in our communities every day. We’re so grateful for community partners who help bring learning to life!

Old Mill OVEC Head Start families had the opportunity to step into the classroom and experience a little part of their child’s day. Families explored their child’s favorite learning centers, read their favorite stories, admired their artwork, and learned more about the daily routines their kiddos follow.

We love when families join the classroom and get a closer look at all the learning happening each day!
