N3230T on the ramp at KAVL, Asheville , NC yesterday. Club member Dan Toohill left Shelby County (2H0) at 0530, flew to AVL, picked up his son, returned to 2H0, and was driving out the airport drive headed home at 1400. Try that on a commercial airline! The “private jet” was one of several on the field and Dan reports another Cardinal departing as he was on final. GA is alive and well in Asheville!!

A great article on club member Rodger Baldwin’s physics class and introducing students to aviation! Great job Rodger, hope this becomes an annual event. Many thanks to John Durbin, Sullivan, for donating his time and airplane to this event. That’s the club Cardinal in the pictures. Tap on the picture and scroll down for a link to the full article.

30T sure gets around! Here she is in front of Sporty’s Pilot Shop in Batavia, OH. Seems that club members Thad Myers and Peter Nelson decided to take in the sights of the Props and Pistons air show in Akron last weekend. Sporty’s was ”on the way” so why not!?

Had the opportunity this Wednesday evening to take this young man flying in the club Cardinal. After talking about it for several months, Drake wasn’t real sure about it when he got up close and personal with the plane. But with some encouragement from his Mom, Amanda, and some sneaky taxiing by yours truly, we got him to agree to one trip around the patch. Once off the ground, he loved it! Every landing was met with “I wanna go again!” Nice young man, wonderful Mom! i‘m glad to be able to help mark this off his bucket list!

The LSFC is repped at Oshkosh AirVenture! Dave Heady battled storms yesterday to get to Watertown, WI, then joined the Conga line on the FISK arrival to land at OSH about 7:30 this morning. And he did it all solo! His comment to me right after landing “I’m walking on clouds right now, I love this place!” Several other members either are there or are enroute to OSH, but Dave is the only one im aware of that’s flying in. Nice job Dave, enjoy! Oh, and thanks to Caleb Ge**er for arranging the new canopy cover, complete with Cardinal and N number!
