The mission of Bright Hope Learning Center is to glorify God by bringing bright hope to children with special needs, their families, and their communities through life-changing education, therapy, and support.

Kerry, our director, stopped by the sensory room today to see how the kids were doing. ❤️

What happened next wasn’t on the schedule.

One of our non-speaking students reached for her hand and gently pulled her down to sit beside him. And Kerry did exactly that. She sat with him, shared the moment, and met him right where he was.

Sometimes, the moments that mean the most aren’t planned or measured by milestones. They’re found in a hand reaching out, the trust behind that gesture, and someone willing to slow down and say, “I’m here.”

At Bright Hope Learning Center , these are the moments that remind us why connection, compassion, and meeting each student where they are matter so much. Every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and understood. 🤍

💙 Weekend reminder: every little win deserves to be celebrated.

As we recognize World Mental Health Day on October 10, we’re reminded that every child deserves to feel supported, understood, included, and celebrated for exactly who they are.

At Bright Hope Learning Center, students like Asher remind us that progress looks different for every child. Sometimes it’s a new skill, a moment of connection, a little more independence, or simply the joy of being part of something special.

Here’s to ending the week celebrating the little moments that make a BIG difference, and keeping Christ at the center of it all. ✨

Sometimes inclusion looks like a big milestone.
And sometimes, it looks like three girls sitting together, making bracelets.

With the help of an adaptive bracelet maker, Jemma was able to participate in an activity alongside her classmates, independently and in a way that worked for her.

But what makes this moment so special isn’t just the bracelet.

It’s that Jemma got to be part of the moment. She got to create alongside her friends, Emerson & Caroline, share in the fun, and experience the simple joy of doing something together.

Because every child deserves more than access to therapy.

They deserve opportunities to participate, connect, create, belong, and just be a kid. 💙

We’re growing our team! 🌟 Bright Hope Learning Center is hiring a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist to join our faith-rooted team of therapists and educators serving children with special needs in Shelbyville. A year of experience with children with developmental disabilities is preferred, and knowledge of AAC devices is a plus — but what matters most is a heart for helping kids find their voice.
No Medicaid billing required, and every day here means real, meaningful impact alongside a team that celebrates every “inchstone” together.

Two years ago, when Jemma first came to Bright Hope Learning Center , one of her mama’s biggest worries was: would her daughter ever have friends?
Fast forward to today, and Jemma has more than friends — she has a tight-knit group of girls who are practically inseparable.
This past week, Jemma’s class was working on a hand-strengthening activity: stringing large wooden beads. It’s not something Jemma can do on her own. But instead of sitting it out, her team brought in a switch-adapted bead threader — and just like that, Jemma was right in the middle of the activity with everyone else.
Here’s the best part: Jemma didn’t just participate. She used that same adapted tool to string together a bracelet — and gave it to one of her best friends, whose birthday happened to fall on that exact day. 🩵
This is what your support makes possible. Not just therapy sessions and progress notes — but a little girl getting to be a kid, celebrating her friend, on a perfectly ordinary Tuesday.

💙 A space to regulate, refocus, and feel safe.

For some of our students, the world can feel overwhelming. Lights, sounds, textures, emotions, transitions, and everyday demands can sometimes make it difficult to communicate, focus, or regulate.

Our sensory room gives children a safe, supportive environment where they can take a break, engage their senses, and use individualized sensory experiences to help their bodies and brains regulate.

What you see in this video isn’t simply play. These moments can be an important part of helping a child calm their nervous system, work through overstimulation, improve focus, and return to learning and therapy ready to participate.

Every child is different, which means every child may need different tools and different amounts of support. Our goal is to meet them where they are and give them the tools they need to thrive. 💙

**This is why our work matters.**

Through specialized education, therapy, and spaces like our sensory room, we are creating opportunities for children to learn, grow, communicate, and experience success in an environment designed around their individual needs.

And we can’t do it alone.
