Happy Meet the Team Monday! This guy is definitely the ‘give you the shirt off his back’ type of person, but he doesn’t stop there. Mark Hess’ generosity goes to a personal level of giving of his time and showing that he genuinely cares about each person he interacts with. We are so thankful to have him as part of our LifeWise team! Here is a note from Mark:

LifeWise has been a special part of my life for the past four years. I am honored to be a board member for the Shelby LifeWise program, but what truly brings me joy is seeing how it helps families in our community. Watching kids meet Jesus for the first time is such an amazing experience.

I also get to witness these wonderful changes in my own grandchildren. Out of our six children, five have attended LifeWise, and there is something very special about hearing them excitedly share what they learned in their LifeWise lessons.

It’s also awesome to serve alongside the entire LifeWise team. Their passion and dedication inspire me, and together we make a positive impact on so many lives.

For me, LifeWise is more than just a place where I volunteer. It’s a mission that has touched my life and my family deeply. I am grateful for the chance to help more students learn about the important values of the Bible during their school day. Together, we are helping to shape a brighter future for our kids, and I can’t wait to see the good they will do in the world.

Happy Meet the Team Monday! Upon meeting Whitney Collins, it is immediately obvious that she loves Jesus. She loves and serves and cares for those around her with her whole person. And she has loved this Shelby LifeWise program since the beginning. Here is a note from Whitney:

LifeWise has been a meaningful part of my life for more than four years, and I’ve been blessed to experience the mission from several different perspectives.
Throughout my time with LifeWise, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in many different roles, and today, I also have the privilege of serving as a board member for the Shelby LifeWise program.
But one of my favorite connections to LifeWise is as a parent. Both of my children have attended LifeWise, and there is something incredibly special about hearing them come home excited to share what they learned in their LifeWise lesson.
For me, LifeWise is more than a place I serve. It’s a mission I’ve had the opportunity to experience personally through my own family, and I’m grateful to play a small part in helping more students have the opportunity to hear the Bible during the school day.

During each LifeWise class, we give the students opportunities to pray. We are figuring out who God is and that we can talk to Him whenever and wherever. Each student is learning that The Creator of the Universe wants to hear from them, and they are building relationship with Him 💪🏼❤️

Happy Meet the Team Monday! Our team is made up of a diverse group, but the two things that tie us together are 1) we love Jesus and 2) we see the importance in sharing the love of Jesus with the next generation. Stephanie Keller is a quiet but steady presence in our classrooms. She has served in elementary and middle school, and we are so thankful for her faithfulness! Here is a note from Stephanie:

The Summer before the very first LifeWise classes at Shelby, I began to hear about this program. The more I learned about LifeWise, the more I wanted to know. So, I volunteered that first year, and this will be my fifth year with LifeWise.
I had a lot of reasons to not volunteer. It's way out of my comfort zone. I'm not a teacher. But... I've left LW each week after classes feeling like I'm the one blessed by the work God is doing through our amazing teachers and volunteers. We're sharing the goodness and love of Jesus with students during their school day. He's working in the hearts of Shelby students, and I get to witness that.

Yesterday we were able to discuss GENEROSITY through the story of Zacchaeus with our K-5 classes. By reading Luke 19 and a fun spin on a classic activity, we were able to look at what it means to share our best with others. We talked about how Jesus helps us be generous with our time, possessions and words.
