Trinity Community Care

Trinity Community Care Trinity Community Care is a non-profit, free clinic specializing in primary medical and dental care to those who are uninsured. We were made for more.

For many years, members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica and other local churches, led and participated in medical mission trips to Haiti, Brazil and other countries. The desperate need in those countries, combined with their Christian faith, became a call to action to use their skills and talents to serve others. At the same time, a social ministry program called SSS (Supper, Sack Lunch, Showe

r) was started at Trinity. SSS was designed to help people in the Utica area, providing place of respite to take a shower, have a hot meal and take a lunch to go. In 2010, the medical mission team members began to ask themselves why they weren’t helping people with medical and dental needs in their own community. The folks at SSS became the beginning focus for that assistance. The next several years were spent learning what it would take to start a free medical and dental clinic in the Utica area. Along the way were blessed with a small army of individuals and organizations donating their time, materials, and resources in areas such as planning, construction, administration, dental, and medical know-how. Trinity Community Care opened to patients in December 2013! Christ did not call us to retreat from pain in the world but to enter it. We were not created to just pass the time as we wander through our life on earth. Whether it’s the desperate need in Haiti or the hidden need in our own communities, we were all created with unique talents to lend a hand. We may never know the impact this clinic makes on each life served. We may not know the power of hope that is created by this clinic. And we don’t know if attempting to be the hands and feet of Jesus will strengthen faith. But we do know that these things are possible and that service delivered with uncompromised compassion and unconditional Christian love can create ripples of transformation, one by one.

Don has people. Trinity people. 😊

And Cathryne is apparently one of his favorites. Get the two of them on the phone and a quick conversation can easily turn into 20 minutes.

And when it came time to get Don’s gift ready for our recognition event last week, Cathryne and Jessica both made sure his new gym bag and membership certificate were picture perfect.

Healthcare is about people. Sometimes that looks like a one-on-one conversation—and sometimes it looks like getting the presentation just right.
We caught Don, Cathryne and Jessica together last week, and this photo pretty much says the rest.

As we get ready for Hats, Horses & Hope on Sept. 17, we’ll be sharing more of the people who make Trinity Community Care what it is.

Ask Dr. Kim Getzinger what good healthcare starts with, and there’s a good chance she’ll tell you: listening.

That’s part of what Trinity Community Care has been doing since she helped co-found the clinic more than a decade ago—listening to patients, understanding what they actually need and helping find a way forward.

Our patient Don knows that firsthand.

He’s relied on Trinity for nearly two years, and Dr. Getzinger and the team have been right there with him as he manages his health and looks ahead to what comes next.

That’s the kind of care we’ll be celebrating Sept. 17 at Hats, Horses & Hope.
Join the fun—and help make sure Trinity can keep listening, caring and showing up.

Yesterday, Trinity Community Care had the opportunity to welcome members of the media for a special Media Day as we prepare for Hats, Horses & Hope: A Night to CARE at the Races! 🏇💜

One of the most meaningful moments of the day came from one of our patients, who generously shared his personal story and the impact Trinity Community Care has had on his life. Stories like his are the reason behind everything we do and a powerful reminder of what access to compassionate healthcare can mean for someone in our community.

Of course, we had to add a little Derby fun to the day with Mint Julep Mocktails!

We’re grateful to our patient for sharing his experience and to everyone who joined us to learn more about TCC, our mission, and the difference our supporters help make every day.

Now we’re counting down to Hats, Horses & Hope on September 17! 🐎🎩
