Ever find a crystal and wonder what it was. This is definitely Anthropocite. I found it next to a fire ring on Lake Champlain. Someone threw a bottle in the fire and it melted and recrystallized. We are now in the Anthropocene Epoch so why not some Anthropocite? There is already a new rock type called plastiglomerate.

Went to the Herkimer Diamond Festival and bought some optically clear selenite from Oklahoma. It was still covered in red clay so I had to clean it up. They get sheets up to 3 feet across. There is a great video about collecting it on YouTube.

Last night at the Burlington Gem and Mineral Club meeting we started setting up a field trip schedule for the year. These collecting dates with directions will be published in the club newsletter each month. Our first trip will be in April to Sharon, Vermont for concretions followed by two fossil trips to two different quarries for Ordovician fossils in Panton, Vermont.

The gem and mineral show is this weekend. Tomorrow it continues from 10:00-5:00. There are some great specimens.

Here is a pyritized trilobite from the House Range. Will be going collecting fossil fish in Kemmerer, Wyoming on Friday.
