Shelburne Food Shelf

Shelburne Food Shelf Our Resources: We are an all-volunteer non-profit organization that relies on donations and grants for funding, housed in the Shelburne Town Offices Building.

Our Mission:
To improve food security for community members of Shelburne through food distribution, and to provide emergency assistance grants, while preserving the dignity of our shoppers. Volunteers assist with food distribution and other tasks. Volunteers choose their scheduled hours using an easy, internet-based calendar-software program. Typically, a volunteer will give 3 to 6 hours of their

time per month to the Food Shelf. New volunteers are ALWAYS welcome! You may sign up to volunteer via our website: https://www.shelburnefoodshelf.org/volunteer-.html; or contact us at (802) 622-3313, ext. 3, or via email: [email protected] if you have questions. We welcome financial donations via our website (https://www.shelburnefoodshelf.org/donate.html), and food donations in the green bins at the south entrance of the Town Office Building or at the Shelburne Market. Our current food needs are listed on our website (https://www.shelburnefoodshelf.org/current-needs.html)

Eligibility Requirements for Shoppers: Community members of Shelburne, including the transient or unhomed, are eligible. Registration with proof of residency is required on the second visit to the Food Shelf. Proof of residency is provided by a current invoice or statement, such as a utility bill, paystub or bank statement, which verifies the name and current address of the shopper. Food Distribution Schedule: The Food Shelf is generally open six times a month: Tuesday evenings, Thursday mornings, and Saturday mornings. Shoppers are eligible to shop twice a month. To comply with COVID practices, shoppers must make an appointment using the website (https://www.shelburnefoodshelf.org/) or call 802-622-3313 ext. 3 for assistance. Emergency Assistance Grants: The Food Shelf refers shoppers as needed to Chittenden county, state and federal programs, and provides small grants for emergency assistance based on available funds, including:
Emergency utility assistance
Emergency fuel oil assistance
Eviction prevention
Emergencies outside the scope of established programs may receive assistance based on circumstances and funds available. Applications for Emergency Assistance Grants: Applicants must be a member of the Shelburne community, including the transient or unhomed. Contact Information

A huge thank you to the Shelburne Athletic Club for generously donating a refrigerator to the Shelburne Food Shelf. Your support helps us keep our shelves stocked and our neighbors fed.

We're also deeply grateful to the Town of Shelburne staff who stepped in and helped move the fridge—teamwork like this is what makes our community so special.

In times like these, every act of kindness makes a real difference. We're proud to be part of such a caring, generous community as we work together to support those in need. 💛

These tokens were used as part of the 2025 Shelburne Food Shelf (SFS) – Shelburne Farmers Market partnership program. Thanks to a generous grant from SCHIP of Shelburne, SFS shoppers had the opportunity to purchase fresh, local produce at the Farmers Market.

This support from SCHIP not only helped bridge the food gap and improve the well-being of our neighbors but also boosted business for local vendors and farmers. It strengthened the capacity of the Food Shelf and fostered a deeper sense of community.

SFS shoppers were deeply appreciative of the chance to participate in this vibrant local event.

Thank you, SCHIP, for making this program possible!

With uncertainty about federal funding for food aid, the Food Shelf is facing increased demand for food here in Shelburne. Families, elderly and disabled people, and children in our local schools depend on us.

The state of Vermont will fund partial benefits for November, but there will be a one week delay and only two weeks of food aid are currently planned this month. We're grateful to everyone who has donated to our fall fundraiser or offered to coordinate a food drive at your business. We need all of you. Please tell your neighbors that you support the food shelf, and that food is available to everyone in Shelburne if they need our support.

For more information about making a donation, visit our website, or contact us to discuss hosting a food drive at your workplace:

Tax-deductible donations help us to meet our community’s needs. We appreciate donations for any amount.
