UNA Employees Form Campus Workers Union Chapter

(SHOALS INSIDER) University of North Alabama employees have formed a new chapter of United Campus Workers Southeast Local 3821.

Organizers said the chapter was formed over concerns involving wages, the outsourcing of custodial jobs, residence hall conditions and university budget decisions.

The UNA chapter is the fourth United Campus Workers chapter in Alabama, joining chapters at the University of Alabama, Auburn University and Jacksonville State University.

Membership is voluntary and open to faculty, staff and student workers.

UNA officials said they were recently made aware of the announcement and had no further comment.
