This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation and communities. Today, we proudly recognize our very own Phil Wagner, who first served his country in the United States Marine Corps before continuing his dedication to others with the Sheffield Village and Lorain Police Departments. His unwavering commitment to service ultimately led him to give his life in the line of duty while protecting the community he loved.
May we never forget his courage, sacrifice, and legacy.

This past week, we celebrated the life that Phil lived and paid our respects to him and the other 110 officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2025. Phil leaves behind a legacy that we strive to uphold.

Today, during the 45th Annual National Police Officers Memorial Service that concluded this long and emotional week, Vice President JD Vance gave an incredible tribute to Phil as the keynote speaker of the event. Hearing the Vice President personally name Phil and shed light on his story was truly amazing and will not be forgotten.

We encourage everyone to watch this video from the National Fraternal Order of Police.

The foundation, founded by members of Lorain Police's SWAT team, is named for Officer Phillip Wagner, who was shot and killed in an ambush in July. The founation looks to provide financial support and resources to the families of law enforcement killed in the line of duty.
