🌿 Let Them Take a Little Risk! 🌿

Did you know that risky play is an important part of childhood development? 💚

Climbing a little higher, balancing on a log, jumping off a small step, exploring uneven ground, or trying something new can help children learn and grow!

✨ Why is risky play important?
🧠 Builds problem-solving and decision-making skills
💪 Develops confidence and independence
⚖️ Strengthens balance, coordination, and body awareness
🌱 Helps children learn to assess risks and understand their own limits
💛 Encourages resilience and perseverance

Risky play doesn't mean unsafe play! It's about giving children opportunities to explore age-appropriate challenges while adults provide a safe environment, supervision, and support.

Instead of always saying, “Be careful!” try asking:
💬 “What is your plan?”
💬 “How does your body feel?”
💬 “What could you do to make that safer?”

Let's give children the space to explore, challenge themselves, make mistakes, and discover what they can do! 🌳

Remember: Our job isn't to eliminate every risk. It's to help children learn how to navigate risks safely. ❤️

Domestic violence affects millions of people each year in the United States and remains one of the most under-reported crimes. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that around 1 in 4 women and nearly 1 in 10 men have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner with reported impact such as injury, fear, or post-traumatic stress disorder. The National Domestic Violence Hotline receives more than 700,000 contacts per year, and shelters routinely turn people away because they are full. DVAM exists to keep these issues visible, to fund frontline services, and to push policy change such as gun violence restraining orders and stable housing for survivors.

Today marks the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Our team wants everyone in Sheboygan County to recognize that this is a problem in our community and awareness matters.

Many of our task force members also work directly with people personally affected by domestic violence and we know that there are victims in our community that are suffering in silence that need evereyone's support.

Help is available, you deserve a life free from abuse 💜
