🌊 Dive into the stories beneath the surface at Rawley Point this Saturday! 🚣⚓

Whether you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure on the water or fascinating local history, the Rawley Point Nature Center has something for everyone on Saturday, August 1!

🛶 8:00–11:30 AM: Paddle out to the historic Continental Shipwreck, a 245-foot wooden steamer that ran aground in 1904. Experience Lake Michigan from a whole new perspective! (Weather and lake conditions permitting.)

⚓ 11:00 AM: Hear renowned shipwreck explorer Suzze Johnson share the incredible stories behind the six shipwrecks discovered off Rawley Point, complete with amazing photos and firsthand accounts of her discoveries.

While you’re there, stop inside the Rawley Point Nature Center, open 11 AM–3 PM on Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day Weekend, and visit with Naturalist Rob Zimmer!

The tall ship is on its way!! ⚓⚓

Tomorrow and Wednesday, the tall ship INLAND SEAS will be docked in Two Rivers and Manitowoc, conducting educational sails along the shoreline! While on the vessel, participants will learn about the Great Lakes ecosystem, take water quality samples, learn about aquatic species, and help sail the vessel!

Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary partnered with Inland Seas Education Association to bring the tall ship INLAND SEAS to the sanctuary! INLAND SEAS will be docked in Two Rivers (July 28) and Manitowoc (July 29), offering two educational sails from each port each day, weather permitting.

Although all four sails are already booked, you can come down dockside to see the vessel and learn more about the sanctuary. In Manitowoc, FREE deck tours are available on July 29, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM! Come join us!

Come sail with us this summer!!

In late July, Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary is partnering with Inland Seas Education Association to bring the tall ship INLAND SEAS to the shores of Wisconsin! INLAND SEAS, a 77ft schooner, will be docked in Two Rivers (July 28) and Manitowoc (July 29), offering two educational sails from each port each day, weather permitting.

While on the vessel, participants will learn about the Great Lakes ecosystem, take water quality samples, learn about aquatic species, and help sail the vessel!

📅 Date: July 28 (Two Rivers) & July 29 (Manitowoc)
⏰ Time: 8:45 AM – 12:00PM & 1:15 PM – 4:30PM (3-hour sail)
🎟 Tickets: $5 for anyone under 18; $10 for adults

FREE deck tours will also be offered in Manitowoc on July 29, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM!

🛟⚓⛴ It’s time for a sanctuary buoy update! The first Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary buoys are in for the 2026 season!

Over the last two weeks, a team of NOAA divers and NOAA's Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary staff were able to get out on the water to install a batch of mooring buoys for the 2026 season! The team successfully installed FIVE mooring buoys off Rawley Point and near Manitowoc. Additionally, local commercial diver and volunteer, Randy Wallander and a crew, were able to install an additional two mooring buoys, while a group of Port Washington divers (Roland Chaloupka, Eric Poggemann, and Mike Jajtner), supporting the sanctuary, installed three more mooring buoys off Port Washington! This brings the total installed buoy count in Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marina Sanctuary to ELEVEN:

✅ HOME
✅ GALLINIPPER
✅ ROUSE SIMMONS
✅ ALGOMA

The remaining surface mooring buoys are being installed over the next couple weeks, so stay tuned for more information and updates!
