Meet Hope 🥹🐾😍

Hope is an 11-year-old Lhasa Apso with a gentle spirit and a heart that's quietly waiting to learn how to trust again.

Originally adopted after spending her early life as a breeding dog, Hope was dearly loved by her owner until they sadly passed away. Now, through no fault of her own, she's looking for another special person willing to give her the time and patience she deserves.

Hope isn't the type of dog who will jump into your lap or immediately ask for affection. In fact, she's quite shy with people and needs someone willing to play the long game. Earning her trust takes time, consistency, and understanding—but watching her slowly gain confidence is incredibly rewarding.

One thing that does make Hope feel secure? Other dogs. She absolutely thrives around canine companions and would do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog to help show her the ropes. She's also friendly with cats, making her a wonderful addition to the right multi-pet household.

Hope is still working on house training. She uses potty pads some of the time but is only partially reliable and continues to have accidents. Going outside can feel overwhelming for her, and she currently shows little interest in pottying outdoors, so her future family should be prepared to continue patiently working with her without expecting overnight success.

Despite her timid nature, Hope has a few things she thoroughly enjoys. Mealtime is always a highlight of her day—she has a wonderful appetite—and she even surprised everyone by happily soaking up all the attention during bath time!

Hope isn't looking for perfection. She's looking for patience, kindness, and a home where she can move at her own pace with a dog friend by her side. If you understand that some of the deepest bonds are built slowly, Hope just might be your perfect match. 🐾

🐾🖤 MEET FELIX — YOUR TALKATIVE TUXEDO CUDDLE BUDDY! 🤍🐾

Looking for a handsome gentleman who believes your lap is the best seat in the house? Meet Felix! 😻

This 3-year-old tuxedo sweetheart is affectionate, talkative, and absolutely devoted to quality cuddle time!

❤️ Loves curling up in your lap
❤️ Enjoys snuggling and sleeping beside his favorite human
❤️ Has an adorable, expressive voice
❤️ Happily reminds you when it's time for attention—or treats! 😹

And speaking of treats, Felix is a big fan of Temptations, Friskies, and Churu. If he knows you've got some, you can bet he'll ask!

🐱 **A LITTLE PATIENCE, A LOT OF LOVE!**

Felix may need time to adjust to new people and surroundings. But once he feels comfortable, his loving personality really shines. He's the kind of cat who makes earning his trust especially rewarding!

🏡 **WHAT'S HIS IDEAL HOME?**

🐾 Great with children ages 9 and older! His experience with younger kids is unknown.

🐾 He can sometimes be a little bossy with other cats, so he'd likely prefer being your one-and-only feline.

🐾 He's done well around a young Labrador Retriever, provided the dog respected his personal space.

Felix also enjoys exploring! A comfortable indoor home with plenty of enrichment—and perhaps a secure catio for some supervised fresh air—would be wonderful.

Felix came to us through no fault of his own. Now he's ready for a fresh start with someone who appreciates his affectionate nature, respects his boundaries, and doesn't mind sharing their lap! ❤️

🩵 BERNIE NEEDS A HOME by 10/19 🩵

Foster, foster-to-adopt, or adopter needed for this sweet boy!

Meet Bernie — a 4-year-old, 40 lb Shepherd mix who is looking for his next chapter!

Bernie was found as a stray in KCK, so we don’t know much about his past. What we do know is that he’s an incredibly sweet, loving boy with SO much potential to be an amazing companion!

Unfortunately, Bernie is struggling with significant separation anxiety, and his current foster works outside the home. He needs a new home by October 19th, ideally with someone who is home most of the day and can help him feel safe, secure, and supported while he works through his anxiety.

💕 Here’s what makes Bernie so special:

🐾 Incredibly sweet and loving — He loves affection, belly rubs, and gentle brushing.

🐾 A great housemate — He’s potty trained, crate trained, and does great in the house.

🐾 A walking buddy — He does great on walks and loves going on adventures!

🐾 A smart boy! — He knows sit (and sometimes throws in a bonus down!), is practicing stay, and has been doing great working on leave it.

🐾 A good sleeper — He sleeps wonderfully through the night, even when the alarm goes off!

🐾 Dog friendly — He can do well with other dogs with slow, proper introductions.

🐾 The perfect smedium! — At 40 lbs, he’s big enough for adventures and just the right size for snuggles.

🐾 The BEST smile! — Bernie has a smile that will melt your heart and make you smile right back!

🐾 Adventure buddy! — He’s a great car rider and loves getting out and about with his people!

🩵 A few things to know about Bernie:

Bernie can sometimes be nervous around strangers, especially men, but he warms up quickly when given time, patience, and a few treats. He does best when people respect his space and let him approach at his own pace. He also needs his boundaries respected around bones and chews.

Because he benefits from predictable interactions, Bernie would likely do best in a home with adults and older children or teens.

His separation anxiety is something that will take time, patience, and consistency to work through. A home where someone is around more often and can help him gradually build confidence would give Bernie the best chance to succeed.

Maybe you can foster him while he works through his anxiety. Maybe you’d like to foster with the possibility of adopting if he’s the right fit.

Whatever that looks like, Bernie needs someone willing to meet him where he is and give him the love, security, and understanding he deserves.

Meet Dia (Diamond) 🤍 | 5-Year-Old Pit Bull Terrier Mix

Dia is a beautiful, all-white girl with a big heart and a loyal spirit. After spending several years in a home with a family, she’s now looking for a fresh start where she can once again be a devoted companion.

Dia has lived as an indoor dog and is crate trained, comfortable being left alone, and used to a home routine. She has also done very well with children and previously lived with kids as young as two years old, showing a gentle and patient side with her family.

This sweet girl weighs 63 pounds and has overcome some medical challenges in the past, including surgery on both knees (similar to ACL repairs in people). Despite that, she’s continued to live a happy, active life and is ready to share her love with a new family.

Dia came back to rescue after experiencing some stress and changes in her previous home. Based on her recent history with other dogs, Dia will do best as the only dog in the household where she can enjoy a calm, stable environment and soak up all the attention from her people. Her experience with cats is unknown.

Dia is:
• 🤍 Loyal and affectionate with her people
• 🏡 Used to indoor home life
• 🛏 Crate trained and comfortable when left alone
• 👧 Great with children
• 🐾 Best suited as the only dog in the home
• 💪 A resilient girl who’s overcome past knee surgeries

Dia is looking for a stable, loving home where she can settle in, rebuild her confidence, and be someone’s faithful companion again.

Dia is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which means you can take some time to get to know Dia in your home before finalizing the adoption. It is a great way to ensure the perfect fit!

If you’re searching for a devoted dog who will bond closely with her family and bring love to your home, Dia may be the perfect match. 🐾

If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt.

Meet Stella ✨ | 5-Year-Old Pit Mix | 45–50 lbs

Stella came to us heartbroken and overwhelmed, and her foster family has been amazed by how far she’s come. With patience, routine, and lots of love, this sweet girl has relaxed and showing the affectionate, gentle soul she truly is.

Stella craves human connection — she wants to be near her people, follow them around the house, and soak up every snuggle she can. She’s especially wonderful with kids and blossoms when she feels included.

In the home, Stella is an absolute dream. Her house manners are immaculate: she’s fully house trained, respectful of belongings, and sleeps soundly through the night. She’s not destructive and doesn’t need a kennel — she simply wants the reassurance of being part of family life.

With dogs, Stella has made huge progress. She came in anxious with some resource guarding tendencies, but after very slow, thoughtful introductions in her foster home, she’s getting along beautifully with their dogs with infrequent resource guarding incidents. Stella isn’t a big “play dog,” so she’d do best with either a laid-back, older male dog or a dog that will respect her limited interest in play. We do think Stella will do best with a second dog in the home, especially when owners need to leave for periods of time. She cannot live with cats.

What we know about Stella:
• 💕 Sweet, loyal, and deeply affectionate
• 🧒 Loves kids and people of all ages
• 🐶 Dog-friendly with slow intros; prefers calm canine companions
• 🚫 No cats
• 🏠 Impeccable house manners
• 😴 Sleeps peacefully through the night
• 🐕 Walks nicely on leash and enjoys outdoor time
• 🌳 Would thrive in a home with a yard to relax and explore
• Enjoys her training session at Zoom Room. Stella is highly trainable and knows sit, down, touch, leave it and shake.

Stella is ready for a family who will continue giving her the stability, patience, and love she’s worked so hard to trust again.

Stella is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which means you can take some time to get to know her in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure she fits.

If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt.

Meet Ferret 🐾

Don’t let the gray on her muzzle fool you! At 9 years old, this beautiful 80-pound Shepherd mix still has plenty of energy and love to share.

Adopted from Melissa’s Second Chances in 2019, Ferret spent years as a beloved family companion. After the heartbreaking loss of her owner, she’s looking for a new family to love her through her next chapter. ❤️

Ferret is affectionate, loyal, and happiest when she’s included in everyday life. She loves walks, car rides, spending time with her people, and keeping her mind busy with food puzzles and enrichment games. She’s smart, eager to learn, and still enjoys an active lifestyle!

She’s lived successfully with other dogs and would likely enjoy a calm, confident, medium-to-large canine companion. She struggled with boredom when left alone as the only dog, so a home with another dog may help her settle. Otherwise, her family should plan for crate training or gradually teach her to be comfortable alone.

Ferret loves people of all ages and has a soft spot for children, though supervision is important around little ones due to her size and enthusiasm. Because of her prey drive toward tiny animals, she’s looking for a home without cats or very small dogs.

She walks nicely on leash, responds well to gentle guidance, and makes an excellent watchdog. Most of all, she wants to be part of a family that will give her love, activity, and companionship.

Could Ferret be your new adventure buddy and loyal best friend? She has so much love left to give and deserves a family to cherish her! ❤️

Ferret at a glance:
❤️ 9 years young | 80-pound Shepherd mix
❤️ House-trained and an excellent car rider
❤️ Smart, active, and loves mental enrichment
❤️ Best suited for a home with medium-to-large dogs
🚫 No cats or very small dogs

🐾 Meet Cece — A Sweet Girl Ready for Her Perfect Match! 🤍

Cece is a beautiful, approximately 1-year-old, 45-pound mixed-breed girl with a loving personality, a playful spirit, and plenty of affection to share!

This sweet girl loves being close to her people, soaking up attention, and enjoying some good old-fashioned playtime. She's especially enthusiastic outdoors, where she can stretch her legs and have some fun! 🐾

Cece also has some wonderful household manners!

🐾 Housetrained and crate trained

🐾 Calm and comfortable when left alone

🐾 Walks nicely on leash

🐾 Has lived with other dogs and generally done well

🐾 Affectionate, playful, and loves spending time with her people

Cece would do best in a calm, predictable home without young children. A recent home placement showed that the activity and excitement of a household with little ones can be overwhelming for her. She'll thrive with patient people who understand her boundaries and give her the space and stability to feel comfortable.

Cece has also shown promising behavior around cats! She's curious about her feline friends and sometimes wants to follow them, but has responded well to redirection. Slow introductions and supervision would be important in a home with cats.

With her affectionate nature, playful energy, and great household manners, Cece has so much to offer the right family. She just needs a home where she can relax, feel secure, and be herself. ❤️

🚨💔 ZARA NEEDS OUT OF THE SHELTER — URGENTLY! 💔🚨

The shelter is taking a toll on Zara. She is so stressed, scared, and overwhelmed in the kennel. But once she gets out? She’s the sweetest, most loving girl. 🥹❤️

Zara is a 5-year-old, 75lb brindle Dogo Argentino who deserves to feel safe again. She reportedly does well with kids, loves her people, and would likely thrive as your one-and-only pet — a home where she can relax and be loved.

🐾 A few things to know:
💕 Sweet, affectionate, and loving
👧 Reportedly very loving and gentle with kids
🐶 Would likely thrive as the only pet
🦮 Working on leash training and can pull hard at first, but improving each day
🏡 House trained and crate trained
🎾 Loves treats and toys

🐱 Cats: Zara previously lived with cats and did well, but she can be selective, so slow, careful introductions are important.

🐶 Other dogs: Zara is dog selective after being attacked by another dog. She may be happiest as your only pet, though with the right dog and slow, thoughtful introductions, she may be able to coexist or become a playmate.

Zara needs out of the shelter and into a safe place where she can decompress, feel secure, and show everyone the dog we know she is.

Zara already knows:

💕 How to love her people
💕 How to be part of a family
💕 How to live inside a home
💕 How to be a good girl in her crate
💕 How to keep her home clean
💕 How to love her toys and her kids

She just needs a chance.

We urgently need a foster, foster-to-adopt, or forever home for Zara. You could be the person who changes everything for her.

Please share, tag a friend, and help Zara get out of the shelter. She deserves a soft place to land. 🐾

Meet Ketchup — a cute, medium-sized gal with a BIG heart! ❤️🥫 Cat friendly ❤️

Ketchup has been waiting far too long for her forever home!

This sweet shepherd mix was surrendered through no fault of her own when her owner had to move. Since then, she’s been blossoming in foster care and showing everyone what a loving companion she can be.

✨ A Few Things to Know About Ketchup:
🐾 Medium-sized, strong, and mighty!
👧 Loves kids and prefers older children (8+)
🐱 Cat friendly with dog-savvy cats after proper introductions
🐶 Would love to be your one-and-only dog
🏡 A fenced yard would be a dream!

Ketchup is affectionate, playful, smart, and wonderfully quiet. Once she trusts you, she’ll become your gentle shadow and world-class kisser! She loves fetch, walks, treats, learning tricks, and even catching Cheerios mid-air.

💛 Her Ideal Home

Ketchup can be reactive when she sees other dogs on walks, so she needs space to feel safe and an experienced, confident adult who can manage her strength and help her stay focused. Squirrels and rabbits are exciting, too, and can make her pull on leash. Younger children can make her nervous, so older kids (8+) are best.

She’s kennel trained overnight but dislikes entering her crate, so she’ll need patience and positive reinforcement to build a better association. The good news? She’s fully potty trained, sleeps through the night, knows “sit” and “lay down,” and does wonderfully loose in the house!

🌟 Why You’ll Love Her

Ketchup is a loyal, silly, snuggly girl with so much love to give. She needs a home that understands her needs and will offer consistency, patience, and plenty of affection.

She’s also eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, giving you time to get to know her at home before making things official!

Ready to let Ketchup ketchup with you? ❤️
