Kansas City Young Professionals - by SocialHeart

We are a non-profit organization that is 100% volunteer managed with the goal of creating a better community by supporting all local Kansas City charities.

In 2010 a group of young professionals were looking for a way to be involved in organizations while making a great impact in Greater Kansas City. After two years of event planning, volunteering and building awareness for multiple organizations in the community the group founded themselves as SocialHeart. The purpose of SocialHeart is to build the community through support of all local charities. I

n the three short years of event planning and volunteering, this group has raised over $100k and would love to bring you on to the team or support your organization in its fundraising efforts. SocialHeart does not charge member dues or organizations for their efforts.

Last night at Brewery Emperial, our “No Work Talk Networking” event brought together Kansas City’s young professionals for an evening of genuine connections and engaging conversations beyond the workplace.

We were honored to support Jewish Vocational Services (JVS), an organization dedicated to empowering refugees and immigrants in our community.

🌴☀️ Winter blues? Not anymore! Last night, SocialHeart and The Loop KC brought the heat to Social Waldo with the epic return of Winter’s A Beach. 🌊

From a Rubber Duck Scavenger Hunt to flip-flop networking, beachwear vibes, and live music that had us groovin’ all night, it was the perfect mix of fun and philanthropy! 🍹🌊 Big shoutout to everyone who showed up, made waves, and supported this month’s amazing charity partner, Project C.U.R.E., helping bring critical medical supplies to 135+ countries around the world. 🌎❤️

Plus, thanks to Social Waldo for those killer cocktails for a cause – $3 from each went straight to making a difference. 🥂

✨ Farewell and Thank You, Laura! ✨

Today, we celebrate Laura Gowans, an extraordinary leader and advocate for our mission at SocialHeart. Laura joined the SocialHeart board in 2019 and stepped into the role of Board President in 2020, bringing her incredible vision, passion, and heart to everything we do.

Under Laura’s leadership, SocialHeart has grown its impact within the Kansas City community. Her ability to inspire, connect, and lead has been transformative for our organization.

When asked “Why SocialHeart?”, Laura once said:
“I love that SocialHeart offers people a chance to give back, make meaningful connections, and have fun while doing it! I’m constantly inspired by both the charities we support AND the amazing venues who partner with us to make our events possible.”

While Laura is rolling off the board, her impact will resonate for years to come. We are so grateful for the dedication, inspiration, and growth she has brought to SocialHeart.
