LouAnn Howard taught 1st and 2nd grade at Midland in the 80’s. She will be missed.

The CVA community has lost a great leader and friend with the passing of LouAnn Howard. For those who are not aware she was not only a CVA alumni but also served the school (and many others) with her ministry as Director of Education for the Mid-America Union.

Over the years (whether as an educator, administrator, superintendent, or director) LouAnn had been a consistent and passionate force for Adventist education. Students and teachers alike were at the forefront of her work and prayers which has led to countless advances and growth opportunities for our institutions and the people therein.

More than her accomplishments in those circles, LouAnn exemplified a rock-solid place for advice, affirmation, and listening. She had a skillfulness to help the person she was with to experience awareness and growth. This undoubtedly came from her close relationship with Jesus Christ which shined out as joy to those who knew her.

We at CVA are thankful for all that LouAnn Howard has done with and for our campus over the years. We pray and seek to support our community in this stage of loss.

Thank you, LouAnn, for all that you have given for others. Your way of Christ-centered living is an inspiration and a model for those of us in this ministry and community. And thank you, Jesus, that you have made a way for us to one-day be able to tell such great thanks to LouAnn.

Say hello to a new Midland family! Mrs. Francis will be joining the staff soon! And these lovely girls will be future alumni too! Looks like they’ve got the Chiefs gear taken care of. Now we need to get them some Midland Mustangs gear!

We’re excited to welcome Sherri Francis to the Midland Academy team as our new 3rd/4th grade teacher for the 2025–26 school year!
With over 15 years of elementary teaching experience—including five years at Mile High Academy in Colorado—Mrs. Francis brings a passion for education, strong classroom management, and a heart for building meaningful connections with students and their families.
Originally from Kansas City, she and her husband are thrilled to be back in the area. Two of her children will be joining the Midland student body as a fourth grader and a sixth grader this fall!
“I believe every child is uniquely created by God. It’s my mission to nurture them spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.”

Midland Alumni - welcome one of our own back to midland for the coming 2025-2026 school year!

We are thrilled to introduce one of our newest teachers joining the Midland Academy family for the 2025–2026 school year—Callie Johnson!
Callie is no stranger to Midland. A proud alumna, she spent five wonderful years here as a student and says she has “the best memories” from her time at Midland Academy. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State University in 2024, she spent the past year teaching first grade in a public school setting.
Now, as she steps into the world of Adventist education, Callie is excited to return to the place that helped shape her. She looks forward to sharing her love for Jesus in the classroom and guiding her first graders to grow in both faith and learning.
Please join us in welcoming Miss Johnson back to Midland!
