Hope Lutheran Church & School

Hope Lutheran Church & School Hope is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. We have an accredited Lutheran We are a church. We are a school. We are a preschool.

We are a family of believers in Jesus Christ. We are HOPE. Over 60 years ago, a group of Christians were sent to form a daughter congregation to minister to the needs of the growing area of western Shawnee, Kansas. When Hope was formed, it was at the very outskirts of town. Since that time, as Shawnee has grown, Hope has also grown into a vibrant community of believers that continue to minister to

the spiritual needs of the community. Our ministry has expanded into a preschool and day school ministry as we raise children to be productive and faith-filled contributors to the area and world. We believe:

· That God is one being in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; also known as the Triune God (Matthew 28:19).
· That Jesus is true God and true man (John 1:14).
· That God so loved the world that He sent Jesus, His one and only Son to die on the cross for our sin, that whoever believes in Him might have the remission of all sin and the gift of eternal life (John 3:16).
· That the Holy Spirit brings these gifts to sinful mankind through the ‘means of grace;’ namely, God’s Holy Word and His sacraments (Romans 10:17, 1 John 1:7, Titus 3:5-7).
· That the Bible is the Word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit as He moved men to write it. The Bible is without error, true in all parts, and completely trustworthy for all life (2 Peter 1:21).
· That there are two sacraments, namely Holy Baptism and the Sacrament of the Altar. In Baptism God washes away our sin and joins us to the Body of Christ (Acts 2:28-39). In the Sacrament of the Altar we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ in, with, and under the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of our faith (Matthew 26:26-28).

"God, in his unsearchable wisdom, has recalled to himself the life of Martin Pasi, who built our organ at Hope Lutheran Church. He was a good friend of our congregation and his work on our behalf is a huge blessing. We give thanks to our Lord because Mr. Pasi's Opus 21 will continue to lead God's people as they praise him for generations to come. May our Risen Lord Jesus grant his peace and comfort to Martin Pasi's family and friends."

You know your Pastor's pretty cool when he drives down to the campsite to lead bible study with the youth and then drives back that night to lead the congregation on Sunday morning. Not to mention all of the parents who graciously camp when it's 100 degrees outside. Our family at Hope is pretty special.
