If you haven't already voted by absentee ballot then please vote in person tomorrow! Also talk with family members about getting out the vote tomorrow! Let's have a broad number of Tribal members across our Tribe decide who is elected as Governor and Secretary!

And remember the Longhorn for Governor campaign is offering to coordinate rides to the polls for members who need transportation! Don't let the lack of transportation stop you from helping decide who we put in the Governor and Secretary's offices! NEYIWA!

TRIBAL MEMBERS: NEED A RIDE TO THE VOTE ON SATURDAY? WE ARE COORDINATING WITH DRIVERS TO PROVIDE RIDES TO TRIBAL MEMBERS IN NEED OF TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE VOTING PLACES! NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND NO EXPECTATIONS TO VOTE FOR ANY SPECIFIC CANDIDATES!

If you need a ride to the polls please FB Message your contact info, address and time preference for voting.

We also would like any Tribal members who wish to volunteer as drivers to FB Message me so rides may be coordinated for voters.

GOOD MORNING TRIBAL MEMBERS 1 DAY TO ELECTION DAY! GET OUT TO VOTE!!

I would like tell you about some feedback Tribal members have provided that needs to be addressed by the Governor and Executive Committee, and General Council if necessary.

I have received questions and requests for reviews and possible actions regarding Hiring, Firing, and Favoritism in our Tribal government and enterprises.

First let me say, if elected Governor, I will seek by Tribal ordinance a Tribal Preference requirement that applies to all Tribal government positions in administration (including EC staff), programs, departments, and all Tribal enterprises (including our Healthcare System).

By Tribal Preference and Favoritism, I mean the following:

1. Hiring, training, promoting and retaining qualified Tribal members shall have the highest priority in our Tribe. Tribal members shall have ample time and opportunity to apply for positions in our Tribe.

2. THIS IS A KEY PROVISION: Tribal members who meet position qualification requirements will be hired ahead of qualified non-Tribal member applicants.

3. While there may be Grievance Procedures in our personnel policies that could be raised when Tribal member employees and other employees are terminated, Tribal member employee terminations can be subject to review by a Review Panel consisting of individuals not employed by the Tribe and any Tribal enterprises.

4. This Review Panel could also review and determine whether a Tribal member employee was terminated for good cause and also if the terminated Tribal member employee was provided adequate opportunity to improve performance to avoid termination.

5. The Review Panel could also review complaints regarding unfair hiring practices that result in qualified Tribal members not being selected for employment by the Tribe and all Tribal enterprises.

6. Favoritism in the workplace and provision of services to our members. Favoritism is not acceptable. I will seek to enact a Whistleblower Ordinance that will include strict provisions to protect Whistleblowers from retaliation in any form for reporting favoritism in hiring, firing, and provisions of any services under our Tribe (this includes our Healthcare System)

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN INDIAN PREFERENCE AND TRIBAL PREFERENCE!!

Indian Preference is required by federal law and is included with the Tribe's acceptance of federal funding from IHS and the BIA. Indian preference is broad to include any Native American whether a member of our Tribe or not.

Tribal preference significantly narrows the focus of hiring to our own Tribal members as the highest priority. Our Tribe should be hiring, training, promoting and retaining our own Tribal members as the highest priority for all positions! Neyiwa!!

TRIBAL MEMBERS!! THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT, QUESTIONS AND WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT AT THE LONGHORN FOR GOVERNOR COOKOUT AT TECUMSEH LAKE!!

I WAS VERY HUMBLED BY THE TURNOUT AND SUPPORT!! AND I WILL REMEMBER YOUR QUESTIONS, ISSUES AND SUPPORT WHEN I AM ELECTED!! NEYIWA!!!!

The weather was good, the lake area was nice with plenty of room for the crowd to eat, mingle and just visit with friends and relatives we haven't seen for some time!

Special thanks to Tiffany and Pam Sullivan who grilled dozens of hamburgers, hotdogs, hotlinks and brats!! They were delicious!! And thanks to others who contributed, potato salad, pork & beans, deserts, a special cake for the event and drinks & utensils, plates, paper towels, etc...

And thanks to my campaign team who have worked in many ways over the past months, doing work I couldn't do alone!!

We are nearly ready for Election Day on Saturday, I will be in the LA and Norman areas tomorrow and Friday!! Neyiwa!!

TRIBAL MEMBERS! ANOTHER DAY OF VISITS WITH TRIBAL MEMBERS!

It was a good day to sit, visit and listen to the issues and concerns of our Tribal members! I got an ear full today about how our Tribe handles everything from the Treasurer’s $4.3 million Tiny Home Project, Social Services, ICW, our $35 million LA Health Center expansion and our Governor’s inaction on requests for assistance!

I was asked how I would do things differently? I explained I have firsthand experience with and plans for dealing with each of the issues except the Governor’s inactions! Neyiwa Tribal members for taking the time to sit and talk with me!

REMEMBER: A VOTE FOR LONGHORN IS A VOTE FOR OUR TRIBE’S FUTURE!!

TRIBAL MEMBERS! TWO WEEKS UNTIL ELECTION DAY!!

IN TWO WEEKS TRIBAL MEMBERS WILL DECIDE WHAT DIRECTION OUR TRIBE WILL TAKE IN SELECTING THE GOVERNOR OF THE TRIBE!! THIS DECISION WILL IMPACT ALL MEMBERS YOUNG AND OLD!! IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT DECISION!!

I AM A CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR AND I HAVE PROVIDED CLEAR WRITTEN PLANS AND PRIORITIES FOR OUR TRIBE! WHAT HAS MY OPPONENT PROVIDED? NADA!

I HAVE PROFESSIONAL TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE IN BUSINESS AND GOVERNMENT! IN SHORT I KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY CONDUCT TRIBAL BUSINESS AFFAIRS! WHAT ABOUT MY OPPONENT? HE SEEMS YET TO HAVE LEARNED HOW TO PROPERLY CONDUCT GENERAL COUNCIL MEETINGS. FOR EXAMPLE AT THE END OF THE SPRING 2023 GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING, HE RECOGNIZED A FIRST AND SECOND FOR A MOTION TO ADJOURN THE MEETING AND HE PROMPTLY DECLARED THE MEETING ADJOURNED! GENERAL COUNCIL MEMBERS KNOW THAT A VOTE TO ADJOURN THE MEETING SHOULD HAVE FOLLOWED BUT DIDN'T. TECHNICALLY THE 2023 SPRING GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING WAS NOT PROPERLY ADJOURNED! CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW OTHER OFFICIAL TRIBAL BUSUNESS IS IMPROPERLY CONDUCTED BY THIS GOVERNOR?

THIS GOVERNOR CHOSE NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN A GOVERNOR CANDIDATE QUESTION & ANSWER MEETING WITH TRIBAL MEMBERS! WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT HIS LEADERSHIP QUALITIES AND COMMITMENT TO OUR TRIBE? I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN READY TO PARTICIPATE IN SUCH A MEETING! I STILL AM!!

FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS I HAVE PROVIDED EXPLANATIONS OF ISSUES AND STOOD UP FOR TRIBAL MEMBERS AT GENERAL COUNCIL AND EC MEETINGS, AND PROVIDED MY ASSISTANCE WHEN REQUESTED ON PERSONAL ISSUES OF TRIBAL MEMBERS!

SO PLEASE THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE OF OUR TRIBE WHEN YOU VOTE IN TWO WEEKS! DO YOU WANT A RUDDERLESS GOVERNOR AT THE WHEEL WITHOUT THE COURAGE TO STAND BEFORE TRIBAL MEMBERS AND ANSWER QUESTIONS AND WITHOUT CLEAR PLANS AND PRIORITIES FOR OUR PEOPLE? OR DO YOU WANT AN EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONAL WITH CLEAR PLANS AND PRIORITIES FOR OUR PEOPLE, YOUNG AND OLD, WITH THE COURAGE TO STAND UP FOR TRIBAL MEMBERS AND THE KNOW HOW NEEDED TO GET THINGS DONE?

IT'S YOUR DECISION! NEYIWA!

GOOD MORNING TRIBAL MEMBERS! NEYIWA TO THE CREATOR OR GOD FOR MAKING ME A NATIVE AND A SHAWNEE! HAVE A SAFE, HEALTHY AND ENJOYABLE WEEKEND!

I’ll be working this weekend and will take up visits with Tribal members on Monday- Wednesday next week in the LA & Norman communities! I’ve been greeted with friendly and respectful receptions from Tribal members so far! Neyiwa for this type of reception even as I appear without advance notice!

JUNE 1ST TRIBAL MEMBERS: WE ARE IN THE HOME-STRETCH TO ELECTION DAY JUNE 17TH!!

I HAVE VISITED 50 TRIBAL MEMBER HOMES TO DATE & MY GOAL WILL BE TO VISIT 50 MORE BY ELECTION DAY!

REMEMBER THE LONGHORN FOR GOVERNOR ELECTION DAY CELEBRATION COOKOUT/FEED ON JUNE 14TH 4-7 PM AT TECUMSEH LAKE!! TRIBAL MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE INVITED! FYI IF YOU ATTEND YOU WILL DRIVE BY THE TREASURER'S $4.3 MILLION TINY HOME PROJECT ON THE LAKE ROAD! CHECK IT OUT!!

Below are my core plans and goals for our Tribe:

1. Language, Cultural Preservation, Tribal History and Treaty Rights are top priorities for our Tribe. I will work to ensure our Tribe invests resources in these vital priorities for our current and future generations.

2. Health Care Services to All Tribal members: Including pharmacy, dental, eye care and medical services for those members living outside the local service area.

3. Expanded Education & Training Programs: Include expanded training assistance for technical or technology-based training programs and other trades (e.g. electrical, construction, carpentry, plumbing, etc.).

4. Social Services: The Pandemic Public Health Crisis has demonstrated the need for Services and Assistance for Tribal members especially young members and their families, elderly, and chronically ill & disabled members.

5. ICW & Tribal Courts: These are complex issues, but it is up to us as Tribal members to begin discussions of the problems and challenges in developing our own solutions and approaches with ICW and our Tribal Courts.

6. Constitution & Tribal Government Reform: Our Constitution is outdated. The Constitution Review Committee developed a new constitution DRAFT, but the Review Committee was dissolved by the current EC. General Council could take up and direct how a new effort to update or replace our Constitution should proceed. And should we return to 2-year EC terms?

7. Economic Development: Including improving management and profitability of our existing businesses (i.e. 2 casinos, c-store, AllNations Bank, ASEDA, Health Care Corporations) and expanding and developing new business ventures (e.g. a third casino, new hotel at LA Thunderbird Casino, cannabis industry, new technology business, etc.).

WHAT ARE GOVERNOR JOHNSON'S PLANS? MORE OF THE SAME FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS - THAT IS NO PLANS!!
