SHARE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization who rescues animals and incorporates them into programs to teach children and adults of all ages how to care for them. Southern Hope Animal Rescue is a family & volunteer operated 501(c)(3) organization that offers horse boarding, riding lessons, birthday parties, petting pen, adoptable animals and more! Our amenities include: a modern barn with five 12'

x12' fully matted box-stalls with access to grass pasture, concrete center aisle, ceiling fans, miniature horse stalls, wash stall with hot and cold water, tack storage area, large grass semi-private turnout with automatic waterers, large run-in sheds, a lighted dressage arena and round pen with sand footing.

SOS 🆘 Help us, help Sonnet! She’s wonderful!! 🐶

Her current foster home has done a wonderful job with her but they can no longer keep her and she needs a new place to stay by Monday!!

For those just tuning in, our Sonnet was a rescue from Bertie County Humane Society when the county changed their euthanasia policy and she was at major risk.

She is 2-3 years old, has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and was miraculously heartworm NEGATIVE!  And she has been on heartworm prevention monthly!

She does need a fenced in yard with a 6 foot no climb fence. She is crate trained and needs to continue her good work with House training! She gets along with other dogs too!

Please help us find someone for her!! Foster or adopt!! Hounds are the sweetest!

This most perfect princess is Emerald 💎

She was with us as a tiny puppy, and is returning to us due to no fault of her own. Her mild anxiety and an overseas job, just isn’t compatible. The thought of traveling ✈️ with her and/ or boarding her long term and frequently is not in her best interest. And that’s what we’re here for… every animal that we adopt out can come back to us at any point in their life if needed.

Back to Emerald… the most perfect princess…

She is adorably wonderful ❤️🐶

House trained, crate trained, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and currently on prevention. She is of course spayed. She’s 2 and 1/2 years old. Her birthday is January 2024. She weighs about 55 lbs. She’s an Australian Shepherd mix.

She knows basic commands. She loves squeaky toys, all the squeaky toys - but isn’t obnoxious about it at all. But for real don’t apply if you can’t handle the squeak! 😂 She also loves a cardboard box, but only when given permission to “get it”. 📦

We unfortunately have little data on how she does with cats 🐈 she has met them on leash and was playful and excited.

She has been raised in a loving home with a respectful child. Her current home understands that dogs don’t understand “moving” and “overseas job”. They want to make this transition as seamless as possible for her. There will be phone calls, home visits, and the potential for a sleepover before everyone commits.

Please help us find Emerald’s perfect match. We won’t rest until she’s happy and home.

We have a few more weeks of fly season and we need help restocking!!

We go through jugs of fly spray! Countless fly boots! And the wear and tear on the fly sheets never ends!

Don’t even get us started about the mosquitoes 🦟 those little velociraptors make us and the animals bleed! We could use Dynatraps all over the farm!

And the grass is dangerously high in sugar for some of our horses. Grazing muzzles have been a necessity.

Don’t forget about our Outlander Kittens! They are absolutely amazing 😻

They are already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and micro chipped! They are 14 weeks old!

Jamie (or James Fraser) is bold, outgoing, playful, all boy!! He loves friendly dogs 🐶 well taunting them from under the couch and playing with them! 🐈

Claire is poised, eloquent, perfect lady cat. 🐈‍⬛ she seeks out attention and gives the best head rubs and purrs. And loves to play interactively with her toys.

Janny (or Janet Fraser Murray) is sweet and does like to keep to herself, but she welcomes pets and cuddles, and in a quiet home will likely curl up on your lap! She’ll come running for a can of food! 🐈‍⬛

Their adoption fees have been sponsored down to a very affordable donation. And we’d consider even less if they all go together. ❤️😻🐱😸

Join our amazing farmily! We need help and we’re hiring!

We’re always seeking volunteers, but also paid stable-hand positions and paid instructors!

The main pre-req is loving all things involving animals and children!

We need:

1. VOLUNTEERS! First and foremost, we are always welcoming new volunteers! Volunteers are the heart and soul of this organization! We need you every single day! Just fill out our volunteer application and let us know when you’re available for orientation! You do not have to have experience to volunteer. We’ll teach you! Also, we oftentimes hire volunteers who display an aptitude for the work involved here! ❤️💩
PLUS, Christmas in the Country is around the corner! Who wants to help with our biggest fundraiser of the year?! ❤️🎄

2. Stablehand - This position requires one to be experienced and comfortable feeding and handling horses and various small livestock on their own. Must be knowledgeable in animal care. Applicants must be 16 years old or older, have their own transportation, and must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
Immediate Friday afternoon and weekend availability! Send us your resume or a message explaining your experience ❤️🐴

3. Instructor for our Teeny Tiny Pony Club and Private Horsemanship Lessons -
Choose one day or all the days to teach children (and adults) all things horses! This position could be once a week or 5 days a week. Truly flexible as we have home-school interest, after-school interest, and weekend interest. This position requires knowledge of basics like advanced leading/ lungeing & groundwork, equine behavior, grooming & bathing, rhythm & balance in the saddle. Should be comfortable teaching beginner through intermediate level balanced & centered riding.
Applicants for instructors must be 21 years old or older, have their own transportation, and be able to pass a background check.
