A huge thank you to Safe Haven of Shawano County for their interpreter support this week! And to all of our nonprofits who showed up for the Family Resource Night!
About one-third of our regular Diaper Bank attendees now are Spanish speaking. On regular distribution nights we have translated materials for families to read and use apps on our phones to communicate. Having a certified interpreter was fantastic and a great way to make sure these families knew about other resources in our area too!
United is the way we remove barriers for all!
๐ Community Connections Matter ๐
Last night, our Family Services Advocate, Lauren, had the opportunity to staff a resource table at the local Diaper Bank event. Pictured with Lauren is Uriah from United Way, a valued community partner whom Safe Haven frequently collaborates with on events, volunteer opportunities, and community problem-solving efforts.
This event was about much more than sharing brochures and resources. Safe Haven was proud to help ensure equal language access by providing an interpreter for Spanish-speaking families attending the event. While translated materials are important, we know that true access means being able to ask questions, share concerns, and connect with services in your language.
Without valuable services like interpreters, many individuals and families may never reach out for the support they need. Last night, connections were made, questions were answered, resources were shared, and most importantlyโeveryone had the opportunity to be heard.
At Safe Haven, we believe outreach should be accessible, inclusive, and equitable for all members of our community. ๐
